Or maybe it was John Lucas III. Or surely it was Juwan Howard!

    oh give me a break.
Francis showed up to camp out of shape.
He got outplayed by Rafer, Mike James, and Luther Head.
When the season started, he sat on the bench and pouted like a little baby, while Kirk Snyder (who also has yet to see a lick of playing time) cheered the team on and celebrated their success.
We all know his talent. We all know how athletic he has been (and hopefully can still be). But.. since he's returned to Houston, he's been nothing more than a spoiled little brat.

It's funny how so many ppl are screaming for Francis to get PT, b/c of the supposed "horrible play" of our 2 rotation PGs, Rafer & James, yet no one makes a single mention of rookie Aaron Brookes... who at this point this year, has proven just as much to this team as Steve Francis.

If Francis can get in shape, show some heart, and maybe some IQ to learn the offense, he'll get in the rotation. If not, then I don't care what he's done in the past, but he won't. That's that, and I'm sure that's how Adelman feels. If Steve Francis can put it all together, with the talent he possesses, this team could be unstoppable... but he hasn't proven yet than he can do that. And until then, he probably won't play, and rightfully so.

Like everyone else is saying, different positions, different needs.

Francis needs to get in shape and earn a spot, then he'll play. Simple as that. If Head is as bad as you say and Francis still can't get on the court, what does that say about Francis' current playing ability that he can't even take a rotation spot from him??

What I'm having a hard time understanding:

Why is it that guys like Adelman get so much money coaching when a bunch of posters on internet message boards clearly are better suited to make decisions about who should play?

May I add that Rudy T. spoiled him? Ever since Rudy T. stepped down as the Rocket's head coach, SF3 hasn't excelled under any other head coach that he's played for. After all, Rudy T. basically let him do whatever he wanted to do for four seasons.

I say that if SF3 can't excel under RA, then SF3's NBA career is OVER!!!

Granted, Mike James had a bad game tonight.

But I extend James' minutes before giving Francis minutes right now.

I'm far more annoyed with Bonzi's turnovers right now than with Scola's inconsistency.

    V-Span or S-Fran?

Very very see-through opening post. Not wanting to see Steve play part, but the ripping on Rafer to enhance Steve part. Fact of the matter is Steve got outplayed and didnt earn a rotation time. He should have realized it was open tryouts to earn to a spot instead of coming in like it should have been handed to him.

I'll still add though that Rafer shouldn't really even be on the team, from how they were trying so hard to replace him. A curious change in direction to all of a sudden have him compete for the starting role when you KNOW what you're gonna get from him - an undynamic decent at best starter. There would have been nothing wrong starting the season with Mike James, Steve Francis, Luther Head getting the same minutes, then Aaron Brooks as the 4th guard and Kirk Snyder at the other guards

Because Francis is a washed up bum, while scola is in his prime.

it's starting to look more and more like adelman just has a mad-on for steve (like a lot of the posters here) and is trying to break him down mentally to conform. i'm willing to give him the benefit of a doubt because of his record, but you've got to think even an out of shape francis couldn't be that much worse than alston, and getting some actual game time would go a long way in adressing his weight problem.

he should really just throw steve out there and see what happens. worst case scenario, he turns the ball over at alston's rate and adelman's reasons are justified.

by the way Rover16, nothing against you buddy but why do you have such hatred for Steve Francis, its like in every francis thread here, you always say somethin really nasty and degradable words about steve... did he steal your wife or your girlfriend or something? i mean geez... im not a francis fan or anything like that, i just wanna know why you hate him so much and why you want to see him fail... he DID hold the rockets together and gaved us something to cheer during our darkest years during the post hakeem era...

your assessment of scola is terrible. he's been inconsistent but he's played 4 nba games in a system that yao doesn't even have down yet. "as bad as it gets" really?

steve is behind 2 better players at the one, though i'd arguably play him over luther head.

    scola doesn't have that competition.

Scola isnt that bad, and Hayes can play the whole 48 min Scola also plays C when we go small.

Two other PG are playing better, at least that's the way how RA sees it, and not enough minutes to go around.

I don't get why people are saying Francis out of shape. I haven't been watching the games, but has he gotten to fat that he can't even run? Or is he expected to be lightning fast as a PG? Wasn't Shaq was out of shape for the most part of his career?

He's in a lot better shape than Shawn Kemp.

Francis isn't fat by any means....he just needs to drop a few pounds, and get his stamina up....
