It's already Yao's 6th year, and people are still talking about "become the best he can become" Just what does it take for people to finally come to terms with the reality that with his passive mentality and mechanical way of play, Yao will be very unlikely to ever evolve into more than a star role player?
yao's reluctance to demand the ball shows how uncertain he is with his abilities. if he was sure he could score every time then he needs to tell them to give him the ball where he wants it.
WTF, Just give the ball to Yao and let him shoot the freaking ball, adelman, what r u thinking? Yao always had a higher FGP than T mac, he should at least take away 5 shots from t mac. I know mcgrady looks good right now, but it doesn't mean Yao should be inferior in the number of shots taken specially in such a close game against a strong team. If the season goes on like this, i expect Yao to either criticize adelman or ask for a trade. Cuz the team is not going anywhere against good teams this way.
good thread....Yao is waiting for the double team instead of attacking. he can shoot over the double team also. he needs to look for his shot more. Adelman needs to figure out some things. its early in the season. we will be ok
Yeah, this role player should DEMAND the BALL and make McGrady his sidekick. This team won't go anywhere if Yao is the role player. McGrady has to understand that he has to play Robin to Yao's Batman if this team is to go to the promise land.
I see the same as it has been in previous years... a chuck happy Tmac who has trouble shooting above 40% a passive Yao looking for double teams to come... rather than split them and take a shot... shoot happy Role players who don't know how to pass the ball and cant hit a basket as if it was the size of a barn... and a coach who has our biggest guy running the court the whole first quarter to only take 2 shots... (what a waste) and then pulls him when he forces Dirk too take 2 quick fouls...
Some people just don't change. You still critize Yao when he was the best player in this game. Your hate is too obvious. Going back to Utah? What a joke. How about rafer and tmac shooting less than 40% in that game. Give me a break. Yao wasn't the only player who played bad in that series yet you continuously criticize him. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see you are a YAO ONLY HATER.
Yep. Sounds like 2004-2005? Sure does to me. I wish Yao had the balls to flame Adelman in the American media.
i don't think it has anything to do with the new system. we were defeated by turnovers and jason terry.
Its not about who is "batman", but rather who is hot. When T-mac is hot and start seeing the double teams, we still let him have the ball because then defenses has to scramble once he passes out. What bugs me is that Yao can't get the same treatment. We missed some open shots out of Yao's double-team, so we stop going to Yao. What kind of idiotic logic is that. I would rather watch our perimeter players taking open shots (except bonzi ), or driving to the hole against a defender recovering from the double-team then watching T-Mac throwing up contested jumpers when he is obviously in a funk. Commanding a double team is a ADVANTAGE, not something we should be trying to avoid. You know how many teams would kill to have just 1 player that can command a double-team, sometimes triple team, and we have TWO. Yet somehow we only know how to use one of them.
yeah im sure you could come back from a broken knee... in full shape...1 month before the playoffs... I thought Tmac was Batman... "didnt he say its on me..."
Yao sucks! He plays like a lady at the offense end, soft and hesitated. He always waits the double then passes the ball to someone outside. He has to be decisive and take the responsibilities.
Actually, attracting the double team and then making that pass out of the double to your open shooters is the cliche of making your teammates "better." Yao made the right decisions most of the time tonight. I don't see what he did wrong. In fact, I was pretty satisfied with his game in general.
