I agree completely and never understood why it was so important to people here that Dream teach Yao. Yao is self-motived enough and he game is completely different from Hakeem's.

Still, for JVG to forbid Dream to teach Yao was jerky, indefensible and smacks of insecurity. Bull's comments give the JVG-haters another thread to slam him.

Yao said the same thing about Ewing that he didn't teach him anything. I love Yao but if you can't learn from the best maybe something is wrong with the student? I know Dream wanted Yao mostly to grow a pair of man nuts but I don't think that's going to happen if it hasn't happened yet. :D

    Flame on baby!

exactly. Its a joke thinking just because they shoot around for a couple of hours that it will change yao forever. Plus, what dream did on the court cannot be taught.

It was a PR stunt, a pretty sweet one and it was awesome to see yao and dream together....really, just seeing dream was a pleasure, but nonetheless them meeting and working out means absolutely nothing

Y'all remember when the Rockets played the New York Knicks for their 1st championship... who was the starting center for the Knicks? Oh thats right, Patrick Ewing, who was on the Rockets coaching staff, I could just imagine:

Olajuwon: Yo, Van Gundy, if its OK with you, I'd like to shine some advice to Yao Ming...

Van Gundy: Sounds good to me, but first let me talk it over with my coaching staff...

*Everyone seems to agree with it but ONE...*

Van Gundy: ......... so yeah, Hakeem has decided to help Yao with his game, that good with you?

Ewing:    HELL NO! Do you remember what he did to me in the Finals???

    Van Gundy: Hakeem?

    Ewing:   YESS!!!

    Van Gundy: Sorry, Ewing...

    Van Gundy: Hey Hakeem?

    Hakeem: Yes?

Van Gundy: Thanks, but no thanks.

    Hakeem: :( :(

THATS how it went down! :p

Actually, all you conspiracy guys can give it a rest, Van Gundy just wanted Yao to not be confused by hearing too many messages. When Thibs took over the duty, I believe Ewing also stopped coaching Yao.

yup. ewing as "yaos coach" was just bogus, but some people are just hard headed.

And its more than understandable to not want too many cooks in the kitchen.

How could yao not have learned anything. Even I learned something from that short clip. something as simple as leaning and stretching for the shot would have made a difference in some of Yao's shots around the basket.

Majority of you dream lubberz are stupid. I like Hakeem... but what good would a fast and athletic player hope to teach a slow finesse player like Yao?

OK i understand if you guys were upset that he didn't let KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR (YES the tall lanky finesse player who patented the SKY HOOK) but Dream? Man c'mon you Dream fan boys need to shut up.

And yes, I firmly believe Yao wouldn't be as great as he is today without JVG's great coaching.

How can Yao not learn from Ewing? Even in the short clips I saw of yao sitting next to patrick you could see that Yao was learning to suck in the 4th quarter.

    :p

Dream and Yao are two different types of players... JVG was right.

Even Yao admitted he didn't learn **** from dream this summer.

JVG not letting Kareem and Dream teach Yao has been reported in the past multiple times, it's all a part of Rockets History, which is a book I'm compiling.

what's lost in this is Bullard's conversation with Dee Brown. If Bullard won that spot on ESPN, he wouldn't be the Rockets commentator, instead the Bull would have gone national. He's happy with his 2nd place job.

The part about Snyder is interesting. What exactly is this guy showing in practice that we are not seeing? Bullard says he's good. Yao said he wished Snyder would have played more in playoffs vs. Utah, but he looks boneheaded whenever he gets put into a game, got shipped by Utah and New Orleans, and rode the pine for two different Rockets coaches.

Can this guy play winning basketball or not? What did Bullard and Yao see that the rest of us are not seeing?
