Anyone plan on using it when it debuts next year? At a glance, the new interface looks pretty slick, but can it really compete with KaZaa, BearShare, LimeWire or the others out there which are free?
how will the new napster work? bearshare has gotten to where it's almost as good as the old napster used to be. when I download, I usually try to find really obscure stuff, and I could always find it on napster. on bearshare, I'm getting to where I can usually find it, but in the beginning, I could usually only find kind of obvious stuff. it will be very interesting to watch how the music industry/napster/etc. will respond to the proliferation of napster-knockoffs that are out there.
For one, looks like BMG has completely infiltrated Napster. According to the web site, "There will be some unrestricted files in MP3 format, but when the rights holder requests it, we'll wrap their music files in a security format that defines how the file can be used." I wanna know how much this service will actually cost. Then I'd wanna know how portable any files that I download are.
ahh good ol' audiogalaxy, my savior after napster went down. while i'll always consider napster the greatest invention ever, i sure won't go back and actually pay to use it.
I've been using this for a while now (about 6gigs dl and 7gigs ul) and really like it. They are starting to block more and more now but if you go for the bands tha arent as well known they arent usually blocked. Also you can find files in a different naming form then their blocked counter parts, for example instead of artist - song it is song - artist.
Depending on the cost and quality maybe. I do have one problem though and that is this new nap file format. I'm willing to bet I wont be able to put those on a CD without a converter or more likely a hack.
