Yao isn't complaining. He's expressing concern about his game (which he's ALWAYS done). There's a huge difference.

if yao can hit that outside jumper at least 2 or three times a game, he should be fine, that will open up things for him. in the last game he missed shots he normally makes. specially in the paint.

    This offense maximizes Yao's skills.

From the passing where he is amazing that wasn't utlitized under JVG to the jumper that he hits when healthy and allowed to consistently shoot it,Yao and The Rockets should really thrive.

Of course there is that time when we will pound it in too.

Thiis team is built for lots of wins AND postseason success.

We have a blend of personell that lends itself to good D also. And you don't have to worry about Yao chasing guys up at the top of the key.Even so JVG's defensive teachings will stick.Hey,things happen for a reason and I think things are lining up for multiple titles starting this year.

it does when we play the great teams. u don't want tmac to have to shoot 27 times and score 40+ for us to win. we have great depth and balance.

yao's concerns will be heed by adelman. we need yao to put up his customary 23-25 pts, james 15-16 pts, scola 10-11 pts, bonzi his 10-12 pts. and among others.

we need balance. although tmac is not doing much of the playmaking, he should not have to score tons unless we struggle out of the gate like we did v. utah where it was obvious yao didn't have it. we want him to be fresh to close out games. he's going to be a great closer this year and for years to come b/c of this offense and depth.

yao will come starting today and bust up 23-25 and 11.

It really is in threads like this where the buffons and numbskulls always show up...

Sorry, just frustrated. I can't believe some of the fans the Rockets have and the way they jump to conclusions so quickly and react so negatively to everything...

At least, I think this interview might be twisted and exaggerated. :(

    Fake article?

That guy Rock Wang Meng of Titan Sports worked 24 hours around the clock around Yao Ming; he had been stationing there in Houston for 3 to 4 seasons now, and is almost omni-present everywhere...........in the training camp, in the Read to Achieve and almost every of Rockets/Yao Ming's activities.

pryuen, my advice is to not take all this negativity seriously. Don't waste your time defending against every post. People can't think whatever they think -- most of us thank you for posting this. It is very interesting.

After all, Wang Meng is a journalist!

Pryuen, I am not with you for this one!

I think this interview doesn't make sense. If now Rockets was losing, it could be a rignt one to come out.

Pryuen, can you translate some articles regarding how hard Yao works and how many difficultis he needs to overcome in order to adapt the new system?

the nets play the princeton offense. they have stars. they have two future HOF's and an all-star.

i think yao is not going to fit into this offense very well. and his chinese handlers are going to convince to complain. sooner or later, he'll be traded to the lakers.

I think Yao prefers discipline and punishment. As weird as it sounds to most players, Yao perhaps likes the authoritarian coach.

Or it could be that Yao is extremely loyal or that he doesn't like change. He didn't like Steve getting traded but he got used to it.

I think he'll get to love the new system in time though. He'll realize that it's not all about robotic execution.

And please note the timing of the article. It's after Lakers and before Utah. Yao was talking about we won (and almost lose in the last minute) in Staples center. Apparently, he's not complaining. If this interview is after Utah's game, that could be different, even though I don't think speaking out his concern is a problem.

You know what I am most concerned regarding this article?

The fact that this guy Wang Meng and some other Chinese reporters are STALKING Yao. These guys are worse than paparazzi. I wouldn't be surprised if they follow him to the bathroom and ask him what he will do once he gets to the bathroom.

It has to be pretty hard to focus on the game, when you have a constant reminder that you are shouldering the expectations of billions of people. Yao is too introspective. These guys can't be good for his mental approach to the game.

If this is not draining Yao mentally, at least it has to be distractive.

Thanks Pryuen for all of your hard work.

I agree with Yao, we shouldn't run Sacramento's offense. They played without a pivot who was anywhere near as proficient as Yao is in the post. Yao has become the best big man on the block, to go away from that would be detrimental to our team's dream of post season success.

We know that if a player goes away from something that they are used to (Yao in the High Post before his NBA career), then those skills deteriorate. We cannot simply assume that we can play Yao in the high post all season, and then in the playoffs just throw him on the low block and expect him to deliver.

Yao needs a steady, and probably almost exclusive diet of post play. If Adelman is such a great coach, then he will learn to adapt his system around Yao, and not vice versa. He needs to build an offense which takes advatage of Yao's advantage in the post, and not pray on his passing game which has been underdeveloped.

Good post, I've never thought of that. It has to be frustrating knowing that you have this little guy in your shadow constantly bombarding you with questions. I know I'd be exasperated with Wang Meng by now, but maybe Yao doesn't see it that way. I know he's frustrated with the way his offense is coming along, so he can't be ecstatic that there's a little Chinese 'journalist' ready to ask him questions all day long.

Yao is not ready. He's not yet the dominant Point Center that Adleman wants to have lol
