Saw this article from Wang Meng of Titan Sports on tom.com.

An indepth interview of Yao Ming in Salt Lake City right after the season opener with LA Lakers and before the game with Utah Jazz, in which Yao Ming talked extensively about Rick Adelman's new offense systems and his role in it.

    ENJOY !!! :D

Clearly, Yao has become a malcontent. He and Francis are this year's Bonzi and Spanoulis.

Well, to be fair, Chris Webber was arguably the best power forward in the NBA during the Kings' run.

But it's understandable. Yao just wants to play the way he's been most effective--down on the low block. I'm sure Adelman and co. will find a way to get Yao more touches down low.

As for anyone that's thinking, "Yao doesn't fit in with RA's system and he's being a malcontent--trade him!!!", after reading this y'all are stupid.

I think this new system is good Yao. The JVG system was all about pounding the ball inside to Yao on every play therefore tiring him out quickly. Now Yao doesnt get the ball as much and can rest at the top of the key more often. :D Yaos stat will go down but I think its going to be better team ball!

Wow the drama. Talking about knives slashing and dark rainy days. Chill out Chinese folks. It's not life or death. It's a game.

    Nice article though.

The Kings didn't have a dominant low post player like Yao. Part of the time our offense will be Princeton, but a lot of the time it will still be set plays for Yao. Even when Tracy isolates a defender, the other players will cut more to get open than last year.

Glad to know Yao's thinking the same with us fans right now ^_^ I think we can hav 2 systems, as Yao said, one up tempo(adelman), and one low tempo(JVG), and just use whatever is most effective against out opponent. I'd like to see both Yao and t mac score though, hope to see them combine for 55+ every night. A team with superstar is different from a team without stars, Yao made the point, and Adelman should consider this.

Ok, just read the Chinese version. I think Pryuen's title is misleading. "We should not ..." is too strong. From the content of the interview, it is really a suggestion from Yao that it's probably not to the best of our strength copying Sac Kings. You could sense a little frustration from him that he has to play high post a lot. No biggie.

Yao said we shouldn't run the same offense as in Sacramento. And we're obviously not going to do that, because those teams didn't have players like McGrady or Yao. He has nothing to worry about.

our bigs also cant pass the ball nearly as well as webber or divac. that kings team clicked on all cylinders. they had PERFECT team chemistry. the fact that they took the Shaq/Kobe Lakers to 7 games and had an oppurtunity to win proves just how good they were. they might not have had superstars but Webber and Bibby were damn near superstars during that time.

For instance, Tracy McGrady. If you just ask Tracy McGrady to run and do all those penetration and lane-cutting without ball, then you will not be able to fully utilize his power and ability.

yao is wrong. this is how you SHOULD use tracy mcgrady. he'll be fresher at the end of games.

and i think yao does not recognize webber and our own clyde drexler as superstars :(

this offense is completely different in terms of how shots are distributed. adelman did not design these kinds of shots for his kings players as he's doing w/ tmac. and he does not pound the ball in the post when he was w/ the kings like he's doing w/ yao.

it's not a PURE princeton offense. yao gets a lot of touches inside. and tmac gets a mix of ways to score now: off screens, isos, post, at the wing, pick and roll... too many ways to score actually.

notice how he said he didn't feel tired or exhausted one bit. playing in te high post a lil bit will help yao in that sense. i just think yao just feels weird playing in the high post and banging the last 4 yrs under JVG. he'll adjust.

Um Yao is just stating the obvious, that we're going to run the "princeton offense" with our own style not the kings' way. And that's what Adelman is trying to do. He's not trying to make us play like the old Kings.

I stand with u, man. Please read the original chinese interview if any possible. Yao just talks about what he think is the best strategy for the team. Not big deal. Anyway, the top priority is team winning. Someone said that Chinese folks should chill out about the new system strategy which may decrease yao's scores. Hey, man, we are cool with that  u think too much  chill out
    BTW, thanks for the interpretation.
