The Texans have decided that Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson will not play this weekend. Johnson is still recovering from a knee sprain he suffered in Week 2. He has been inactive the past six weeks. Coach Gary Kubiak said that Andre Johnson will play when the Texans return to the field on Nov. 18 against New Orleans. The Texans do not have a game next Sunday. "He will not play until we come back against New Orleans," coach Gary Kubiak said. "He's made a lot of progress this week. He's practiced pretty darn good. He's not 100 percent, but he's close, and the best thing for Andre and for our football is to make sure that he gets another 16 or 17 days of rest. "We will proceed that way. He'll be back against New Orleans and we're excited about that." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5268637.html
Not that I necessarily disagree with you, but there is only one game (a winnable game at that) before he comes back. Not sure this news would be the final straw to saying the season's done.
Win this week and we're 4-5. Get healthy over the bye week and face an improving Saints team, but at home. Throw in AJ, Schaub, a healthier Green, a healthier Jacoby, Echemandu with more practice time, and just the rest this team needs from playing 9 straight weeks and we might be looking more towards the Weeks 1 & 2 Texans vs. the last 6.
and after the bye: at: Cleveland (passing on everyone, and we've got a joke of a secondary), Titans, and Indy. home for: Saints (getting together, Bush will be desperate to cut us up, we are horrible containing plays that get away from the middle), Tampa Bay (playoff bid), Denver, and Jacksonville. If you tell me sincerely that you see us getting even 8 wins this year, I don't know what to say. If Andre or McKinney never got hurt, maybe we could have gotten 9 wins. But we're about as bad as Miami or Atlanta right now, and teams are exposing our serious flaws on defense. I can't see us doing better than 5-11, and that sucks. Evan
I understand your frustration, maestro! I still think there are too many variables to say definitely we are going nowhere. Are we going to the playoffs? No, not this year but, we can make it interesting. I think 8-8 perhaps 9-7 is still doable. If the Texans can improve their running game so, the D is not working as hard. If we can do a better job protecting the ball. Agreed. overall, our secondary sucks. The Texans problem STILL is we have pockets of superior talent surrounded by mostly mediocre talent and we have largely below average bench talent. The only strength I see right now is the Receiving corps with Jones, Davis & Walter? Yeah. Who would've thunk it? I said at the beginning of the year, 10-6 but, losing AJ for significant games and beset with many other significant injuries are making this less and less likely to come about. We need another offseason of cutting away "dead wood" (worthless, nonhacking veterans), another solid draft and add a few key veteran component pieces and oh yes, GET HEALTHY! I wonder if Chris Taylor would be making a difference for our running game right now?
