Let yao gaurd okur out in the perimeter. At least he'll shut his out side shooting. Put scola on boozer. Scola is good enough to gaurd the paint. But the thing is he might foul out before the 4 quarter hits. That's when we put yao on boozer. James and francis should be gaurding williams tonight not rafer. Rafer is only effective against average point gaurd.
ok put deke on him than. Boozer is just strong around the basket. I'm pretty sure deke can hold his ground.
Funny how this thread started with like 2 pages of optimism and then the next 3 pages were full of "Oh, Rockets are going to lose" The Rockets should be motivated to win this game. You just can't forget what happened last year in the playoffs. Last year the Jazz hosted Houston for the season opener and the Jazz got off to a fast start and ended winning the game rather easily. But the Rockets are a better team than last year. Utah didn't make any changes (not like they needed to) but they did lose a key role player in Derek Fisher. I don't know how but Rockets will find a way to win.
Do not forget we have scola in that position!!! Hopefully he will get himself together and throw mvp performance like the way he did in Europe
This is from the Chron.com: "That would finally put last season behind them, which would seem a good way to begin the next season. Yao, however, had another idea. "Last year is hard to forget, losing a Game 7 at home," Yao said. "I feel a little bit like we're playing Game 8." I like the idea to play the game like the game 8. Rox 101:Jazz 94.
this will be on of the hardest games on the year for obvious reasons a number of people have pointed out already. i think the rockets can pull this one out but its going to take our bench to do so... add some heart from losing in the playoffs and i have the confidence. the only thing keeping me from saying the rockets win hands down, is that its the jazz home opener and the fans will be more ready than any.
word. you think scola will get serious mins. tonight defending boozer? i'd like to think that he would, but if so he will definitely rack up a lot of fouls. or maybe put scola on okur, that way yao can stay down low with boozer.
I think the later will probably end up happening more often tonite, but I'm looking forward to the time when Scola might be ready to D up a Boozer/Brand type for a whole game. He's gonna need to in the post season.
Having watched Scola play for the Rockets and also listened to what he has been saying I wish to make my opinion known. Coach 'A' is not utilizing the best abilities of Scola he is requiring him to learn a new way of playing. I don't mean the change to NBA style or rules. I mean a way which seems to dampen his best abilities of which we are all aware.I see an energetic player loosing his drive and leadership, he passes the ball to others on the few occcasions that his team mates pass him the ball. He needs to be included and his instinct to win used to its fullest.
Pretty much that is it. If someone, say Mike James, can guard the Jazz playmaker D-will, Rockets are going to prevail. Boozer will not be at his 100% power if D-will cannot pass on his will. Mike James starts and the rockets will win, by 10. 110-100
Maybe we still can not shut down Boozer completely. But the point is: Now we have the weapons to fire back.
I'm getting excited. I can't wait to see how the Rockets continue to let the new offensive schemes sink in, and I hope that the defense they play is still top notch. It will be nice to not see a collapse at the end of the game as well.
The team is still getting acclimated, its way too soon to be analyzing stuff like this. RA is the anti-JVG in the sense that he can make adjustments, instead of relying on the same system for every player. They'll both come around.
The Rockets have NOT beaten the Jazz in Utah since March 28th, 2005 -- a 6-game losing streak if you will. This is a statement game IMO. IT'S TIME!
