No question that Mike James is the better PG for the team, however, his spark is needed off the bench. When Rafer doesn't do much of anything in the 1st qtr, it allows Mike James to make our bench that much better. Just image we have Rafer coming off the bench, we'll fall flat on our faces. Keep in mind, we couldn't even trade Rafer over the offseason. He needs to play well to get some trade value. He needs to start.

I still believe that Rafer is not the PG that would bring us to the next level..I'd rather have Duhon of the Bulls (not a superstar player he is but can get the job done)...Let's see how long Morey can handle our instability on our PG position...

i wouldn't go so far as to call mike james a pg. he's not smart enough to be a starting pg. mj only outranks rafer as a scorer, but not as a pg.
and if you want to bring rafer's weak defense into the arguement, than mj's must be included also.

I agree because we need to get off to a strong 1st quarter against the Jazz. They won't let us come back if we only get 16 points. Secondly James can match up better against Deron defensively too.Hopefully he won't hang on to the ball too much.If he does poorly we will have no choice but to try Rafer.

I don't agree. We need scoring off the bench.

You know what...i am SERIOUSLY thinking that Mike James do make the starter better because first of all the difference between James and Alston is that when Yao is double team and pass to Alston....his only option is to shoot 3...that's it folk!! But as for James not only does he shoot 3, he has the option to attack and get the easy 2 as well. Rafer DOES NOT HAVE THIS!!! So because James attack recklessly, he makes the Rockets much more dangerous. Now defensively...no question James will clamp down the other opponent's PG and James' desire to dominate w/ killer instinct makes him a ferocious defender and offensive player also. Now all that said, why did Rick start Rafer?? Well because obviously his ball handling and passing skills and quickness as well. But if you look at the Rockets starters...i don't think they can get as much fastbreak w/ Yao in there (or u don't want to tire Yao)...so might as well start James!!!

And with Rafer + Bonzi + Scola and possibly TMac or Head...now you can visually the bench can be an explosive fastbreaking team w/ Rafer as the QB.

I think MJ can start for this team as you remember Bibby and BJax were never known as great passers.

I'd love to see Francis get minutes and contribute. But what I can't see is Alston coming off the bench and giving us energy, scoring, etc which clearly MJ can in a frenetic balls-to-the-wall way that no one else on the bench is able to do. Alston is completely useless off the bench (some might say he's useless as a starter as well) I'm not saying no one on the bench can score, but I think MJ is unique.

I'm not drinking any Rafer kool-aid. But until Francis gets in shape and gets out of Adelman's doghouse we have 2 options and 2 options only at PG, right? So as long is Alston plays for us, I see him starting and MJ finishing. What I'd really like to see is Francis starting and MJ coming off the bench, but who knows if that will happen. Certainly not soon it appears.

Although Mike James plays under the title & Position of Point Guard doesn't mean he is one!!! Infact he isn't a Point Guard, he is a scoring Guard who get points on the board, he doen't try to set up his team mates and improve their game! He knows how to set himself up to make plays! :p

I stil think rafer is as terrible as he was last year. I still think francis deserves minutes over skip. And I would start Mike over rafer, rafer blows

No he doesn't. Rafer outplayed Francis during preseason.

Tell me how does Francis deserve minutes over Skip when you can't even win the starting job or a rotational spot at training camp?

jesus christ it's like talking to a 6 year old

Mike James is ten times more valuable than Rafer coming off the bench. Rafer is ten times more valuable starting because he won't take shots from T-Mac. You all know Mike James WILL take shots away from T-Mac, so he is best when he comes off the bench when we need a scoring spark.
