Jeez, I'm getting sick of seeing this happen: the Rox match or better some team in rebounds, turnovers, fast break pts, etc. - only to lose the game because of poor FG shooting.

Look at the stats. Hell, you don't have to; shoot under 40%, and you're going to lose. Shoot 45% when the other guy shoots 52%, and you're going to lose. Shoot 50% when the other guy shoots 60% and... you get the picture.

FT shooting has been a problem all season long, but poor FT shooting is nothing compared to poor FG shooting. The past 3 games have been lost not because of a lack of energy, or even (as is popular) because they've had no big man in the paint (tho that does hurt). They were lost because of poor FG shooting, the most basic offensive quantity there is. They've had the shots, they're just missing them.

If they can make another 5-8% of their shots on average (which would add maybe another 10+ ppg), then they'll be a very difficult team to beat.

    Practice...

Too true, The Rockets have been shooting poorly in these 3 straight loses. But of course that's why we lost. When we where shooting good we where winning!

So lets see a 6 game win streak and now its a 3 game losing streak. Well just like Elvin Hayes said " The streak will end sometime but when it does houston can not go out and lose a couple in a row then go win and lose another couple" Every game is important for the rockets. The only way I see us making the playoffs is if Kevin Garnett gets injured. \

Couple days ago the bbs was filled with Playoff talk, this and that. NOW... Its going to be LOTTERY TALK!!

Of course. It's so obvious, and it's so basic, which is why it pains me...

If the Rox are shooting 45-50% going into the half, they usually win it. But, like we saw tonight, when they go to the half shooting less than 40%...

And I wouldn't even attribute that low shooting % to the opposing defense. Jeez, DENVER - not a good defensive team!!! Not opp defense, they're just flat missing shots.

Sadly, I agree. I hate to wish an injury on Garnett, but it's starting to look like that'll be our only out...

Yeah the Rockets can't get in the playoffs, I can't belive I'm saying that. I thought I'd never see the day when the Rockets would not make the playoffs, of course I thought I'd never see the day when Barkley would retire.
PS I'm not JYD, I'm his cousin spreading the word of his cool Rockets site.

Yeah The Rockets suck any time they shoot in the mid-40% range. What they are missing are those good alley-oop passes!

As I noted in another thread...the Rox have 9, count them 9 players who shoot .450 and under. 2 that hover around 40 and 2 way under 40.

Its safe to say that the Rox are going to shoot under 45 percent for a day.

I didn't call you JYD. Wasn't talking to you. Maybe you and Junkyard Dog oughtta talk about that...

    JYD:

Hell, those alley-oops are about all they're making. What they're missing are the 15' and 18' jumpers, driving layups, and DUNKS (?!?) in the paint...

I'd give away those flashy alley-oops in a second if we could make the rest of our shots with any consistency... (consistency meaning around 48-50% shooting)

Exactly. The whole team's shooting poorly. They do other things so well (rebounding, fast breaks, etc), it's a shame that it all gets wasted because of simple POOR FG SHOOTING!
