I would rather he get his fat butt in shape and learn the offense rather than show his great cheerleading skills. The inactive guys are usually the best cheerleaders anyway. Rafer is god awful. I hope for our sakes he does make a transformation or Aaron Brooks expedites his learning curve at warp speed....I just can't take watching Rafer stink up the joint after giving many false hope in the preseason.
if you hate Rafer for all his turnovers, wait til you get a load of Francis. how easily folks forget.
I saw him get up after a really awesome play. I forget what it was but he was excited at one point. I don't read much into it. He likes to relax there and watch the game. It probably beats those tiny chairs.
Rick A has got to find a way to get Francis in the game. He provides another element that defenses had to worry about. With luther all you have to do is put a bigger man on him and he's covered. The rockets will have to live with the few turnovers every game and hope he can keep them down.
No, Francis has to find a way to get HIMSELF in the game. Like maybe playing smarter and getting in shape? What does Francis bring to the table that Mike James doesn't already? At least James is in shape and ready to play.
Stee-Fran !?!?!?! But yeah, I think he was basically too fat to stand up -- that is the problem. So cut him some slack until he drops the extra 130 lbs.
A lot of the time he was laying on his back looking at the ceiling... he wasn't even watching the game. That is BS. Watch, learn or at least enjoy watching the game from a seat (or the floor) that would probably cost $2000 for anyone else. And it wasn't just one moment of the game, he was sprawled out the entire game. I saw him sit up once only.
James is a better ball handler, penetrator, and jump shooter than SF. i don't understand this blind love for Francis. he provides 1 highlight of the night if that. the rest of the time he's dribbling the ball off his foot or throwing it away.
I usually just read and don't say much on this board but I watched Steve the whole night and it was clear that he was trying to send a message. He started off on the bench with his hands over his face. Then he went to the floor where he clearly was layed across the court. The only time he got up to "cheer" was when Rafer drop off the pass to Tracy and he finished the dunk with his left hand. Most time-outs he never came to the huddle, he just stood in the background. I do not say this to bash Steve because I am a huge supporter, I grew up in Maryland, but he needs to at least fake it. Injuries are going to happen, Rafer will always be Rafer, Luther will always be Luther, and I say all that to say STEVE YOU WILL GET ON THE COURT WHERE YOU BELONG VERY SOON. Put the pride to the side just for a second, we know what you can do. If not you might not be in Houston too much longer, and I don't want to see that.
i'm a Francis fan but he did look like he didn't give a crap about what was going on last night. I mean can you blame the guy the way Alston was playing, and he still can't get his # called. Mark my words by time playoffs roll around Alston and Head out of the rotation Francis in!
I don't think it's being negative to notice his nonchalance. That was one of the first things i did notice in the game because I was excited about the new season and was wondering how the pieces fit. Steve had every opportunity to have the starters job. At the end of last season almost everyone wanted Rafer gone (including myself), but obviously Steve hasn't won the job. It's on him. And being a baby and just lying on the floor isn't going to win himself over on his teammates or the fans. The least he could do is look excited. Most fans hate apathy especially, when it's from someone we want to succeed.
Unless Steve Francis has back problems, or injuries, he shouldn't sit, or sleep like that during the game when the whole team was cheering even Luis Scola, who didn't get much minutes. I have to say it is partially Coach Adelman's fault for saying he would be the starter at the beginning and Francis for thinking the job would be a given. Whatever the case, Francis needs to play, or get out because eventually this will tear the team apart. If the former Franchise has patience, he will get his time because injuries is part of the game. As of now, I rather take a win without #3 than a loss with Francis.
