Hey besides his shooting woes, rafer was pretty good fantasy-wise.. i can't complain.

I guarantee he ends up top 35 in fantasy this yr.

I like the faster tempo and still having Yao down low. Most of Yao's work came from posting up down there. Didn't look as sharp on the high post.

    Not impressed :(
    The team we beat is:
one disinterested All-Star with bad wrist who uncharacteristically missed a ton of FTs
One wahsed-up has been in Fish
    10 scrubs

and we still needed a miracle at the end.
This is the type of team you need to put away early and move on....

James needs to cut down dribbling. All he needs to do is bring the ball up and get rid of it, and if it comes back to him, then go to work, and that's usually when one of our two stars is trapped. He is doing too much on his own, if he cant figure that out, his minute will be limited.

Alston needs take care of the ball better, and read situation better. Unfortunately Francis is worse than James and Alston in these regards. PG is still our weakest link.

Win is a win though. :D

1st game of the season, so I wouldn't expect our best ball to be played until April or February.

with rafer, what you see is what you get, i really believe that, there are going to be a couple of shots in the game where you just want to say huh? 3 pointer with 9 seconds left, teardrop, somehowgetting bailed out by turriaf, shooting a couple of threes with someone's hand in your face. for most nights, that is what we as fans get to see. ooh, that was more than a couple... BUT, thank morey, thank minnesota, that the rockets now have mike james. no more rafe madness for 40 minutes, in fact 20-25 would be optimal.

I agree. Perhaps if Francis were to present himself with a little more maturity he'd be afforded some playing time. There were camera shots of him laying on the bench pouting and looking like a tool.

He should take it from Bonzi-- ol' "Puffy Cheeks" wasn't in shape last season and thus he received little-to-no playing time, but now that he's in good physical shape he is playing well for the Rockets-- on the correlation between physical conditioning and playing time.

I don't think our defense was that great. Kobe got to the line way too many times. Yes they shot 40% but its the freakin Lakers. Game should have been a major blow out. Rockets get a free pass because its only game one.

It's pretty simple for me. Watching this game tonight reminded me why the Rockets haven't gotten over the hump. The PG play is bad. Rafer Alston is terrible, Barkley was absolutely right after the game we he said Rafter Alston has got to stop dribbling into the corners late in the games so he can be trapped and turn the ball over. Rafer has terrible game management and his decision making when teams double him is so bad.

It shouldn't be as difficult as he makes it. We should beat the press and ball should go into Yao on the post no questions asked. I would really like them to emply a more guard oriented offense in 4th quaters when the situations like that get tight. Take Hayes off the floor and give yourself another ball handler. Chuck isn't a good FT shooter anyways. Get ballhandlers on the floor and get the F'ing ball to YAO. It's not that hard of a strategy.

Our defense is poor.Just imagine what would have happened if Odom was there.

Yeah, less double team on him. He didnt have to fight as hard as last season down low.

The defensive schemes haven't changed much. Rockets were still packing the lanes. It looks like Adelman is flexible enough to let players work some things on their own, which is a welcome change.

The offense showed some signs of brilliance but the players still look off. They still aren't sure where to go, when to cut and when to stay, and where to look for help. By midseason they should be coming into shape and then we will get a better idea who fits well into Rick's scheme. Seems like Adelman is still getting a feel for the players.

    (Gundy's defense + Adelman's offense) + (lesser load for Yao/Tmac) - (dependence on Rafer) = Contender.

Do you have any idea how the basket will count? -2 for Walton? +2 for Rockets but no one scores it?
