Really good interview with JVG about an hour ago on 790. They are going to replay it in the 2 o'clock hour. I'm guessing it'll be available on their podcast later on. www.790thesportsanimal.com
Same here. I dont like Yao coming out to the top all that much. He should definetely be down low at all times exposing 95% of the leagues weakeness. Truth of the matter is no one can really stop him unless they double and front him, and with our new rebuilt roster it will be hard to do that when you have a threat at every position.
790 has been talking a lot of Rockets and NBA today...a nice change of pace from the Texans Bashing - All Football Radio Network.
I like that commercial with ray allen, paul pierce and KG watching hoosiers and PP says van gundy is driving the bus and then they pan over and JVG is standing there watching with them.
I was distracted by co-workers a lot of the time, but I caught most of it. Here are some points... - San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, Houston are his clear top 4 in the league (no particular order mentioned) - Thinks Rafer starting is a no-brainer decision because he runs the offense so well, knows when to run, passes to teammates in the right spots, and he's a low turnover guy. The only issue is the streaky shooting. - Said he had no issues with Steve Francis, and that we should believe him now because he's not coaching for or against him and has nothing to lose/gain by saying it. - Sarcasticly referred to Bonzi as "my biggest fan". - He said he will always be a coach no matter what he's doing with his life, so if a coaching job comes along he would definitely consider it. Says he's happy with his life right now and loves Houston (as he always says). - Can't get over the fact that he was fired, because that implies failure on his part. - Loves Les as an owner because he's always looking to get better on the court first and foremost. - Can't shake the Game 7 loss from last year, or the home losses in the Dallas series 3 years ago. Very disappointed about those. - Said he wouldn't trade Kobe if it were his decision, because there's no way in hell he'd want to be known as the guy who traded Kobe AND Shaq. - Likes the Celtics but doesn't know if the supporting cast will cut it. Uncertain how Rondo/House will handle the point, and concerned that they have no size outside KG & Kendrick Perkins. - Loves the Scola pickup, but agrees that it's a smart decision to start Chuck Hayes anyway. Likes having Scola in there with Dikembe, much like they did with Juwan/Deke. Can't remember anything else at the moment. Sorry.
You know, for all of the problems he has on offense and the (lack of) hair, JVG was an awesome coach and person, and in my opinion, makes a very good commentator in his own way. I miss the stressed-out, messy-haired (sarcasm) screaming coach I have more of a connection with him than RA but as far as basketball goes I prefer Adelman's system over JVG's.
\yeah, we all know thats who he really wanted to start. Not like injuries and lack of depth had ANYTHING to do with that forced decision
