So when was the last time the Rockets had a coach as offensive minded as Rick? I can't remember much about Fitch except a lot of fast breaks with LLoyd, Lucas and Wiggins. Then came Chaney. I recall he used the pick and roll a lot with Thorpe and Mad-Max. Then Rudy-T, but he was mainly a spacing and post up guy and Jeff. Well Jeff is Jeff. Are we in for the most creative offensive team in 20 plus years?

Obviously by my post count I don't talk much Rockets, but have been a fan since the two coin flips.

    Dear Mark,

My good sir, I can agree with your views. Coach A will be very diverse and should make adjustments much quicker than the previous. No longer should we be afflicted by those frequent scoring droughts. now the defense will slide, but it should only be by PPG ALLOWED. The FGP ALLOWED should remain among league leaders in defense. I expect Tracy to become a frequent
midrange jumper (hence his percentage should rise). I hope to see Scola not missing layups like Chuck Hayes. And Bonzi is a new player in the system since he played in 25% of last seasons games.

It should be an interesting year, just to make sure that the defense stays decent. And I should warn everyone that thought JVG was a defensive genius because "Truth BE Told" he slowed it down for minimal possession time in order to keep the other team from scoring or getting average attempts. We can still control the tempo, we just have to do it in a different way. Coach A's tactic is to have 5 players that you must pay attention to, if you fall asleep defensively on his team; they will burn you.

Do not be confused, we lost in the first round during the JVG tenure because we could not produce any offense in the closing of games. You cant manufacture that at the end, but defense is purpose and effort and we can show that all season.

    Sincerely,

    Lemarc

Rudy was not a defensive minded coach. so if you're saying he's not offensive minded coach, what is he?

or simply, he has a heart of a champion. ;)

Not sure what Rudy was except the coach of two championship teams. He certainly was a players coach and got every ounce of talent and then some out of the squads that he had. I don't think he was creative offensively though. Spread out and let Hakeem do the job? Don't get me wrong. It worked but only while the dream was a juggernaut.

Rudy would sit players who would not shoot open jumpers. I call that offensive minded.
