It'll be interesting to see how we match up against them now. We'll find out when we play them day-after-tomorrow.
How come these Dukies are always so nice? Battier, Boozer, and all them. It must be the private education. Anyway, he had me believing in him until the line where he said trading Juwan Howard was a bad move. I mean come on, JHo was on the decline and his defense was shabby at best in the playoffs. He constantly let his man go past him, or he'll just foul him if he was a step too late. Plus, he choked.
I think some people's irrational hate for Juwan prevents them from reading Boozer's statements objectively. Juwan did bring leadership every night. He was *the* main leader in the locker room, he was the guy who led the huddle and motivated others. He came to play every night and was always willing to stand up for his teammates (remember that game 3 incident?). And of course, being much more mobile, he was able to guard Boozer more effectively than Yao ... the only problem was that with Boozer and Okur in the game together it was impractical to have Yao trying to guard Okur on the perimeter. I don't see anything wrong with what he said, and he's absolutely right ... we lost a lot of veteran leadership in Juwan, and we can only hope that someone like Mike James (or maybe even Luis Scola) steps in to fill that void.
I sort of agrees with Boozer on the Jho prospect. Jho as a player means more to organization. He's a leader like deke who could provide veteran leadership and he's hungry for wins. However, Jho's contract is just too big and his retunr value don't match with his pay. If we have an extra roster spot i would like to sign jho to min contract. -scola would be foul prone -hayes - lack offensive power -landry another body for fouls.
Also looks like Boozer has been watching over his shoulder! He seems to be very knowledgeable about Rocket Land. He may have red jersey under that ugly blue one!
Yeah you know you can't take him seriously if he's lamenting the loss of Juwanathan. Defense? LOL who is he kidding. And as far as Duke is concerned, yea all the players with the exception of Maggette seem to be articulate as a result of their time there/having the smarts to make it there in the first place, but I would still make a distinction between the true Dukies--guys like Hill, Battier, Brand, Duhon, Shelden Williams, even Luol--who are both smart and good-natured, and the iffy guys like Laettner, Boozer, and Redick who had the intelligence but used their powers in a selfish way. I don't think anything Boozer says can account for what he did/let his agent do to Cleveland in what has to be one of the dirtiest maneuvers I can recall. Plus he plays for Enemy #1 in Jerry Sloan now, who could possibly CHOOSE to play with that guy?
Sorry I have to side track the discussion. When I read your post, I couldn't help to think about where did Bruch Bowen go to school? And where did he learn that flying kick. Bruce Lee's school of Karate? I mean that's private school too, isn't it?
Major BS from Boozer He pretty much talked up every single western conference team. So you really have to take that into consideration. Now Arenas on the other hand did an good job going over the Eastern Conference.
