A must win game for the Rockets, any team who lost the opener game did not win the champ in the end of the year.

are you just pulling this stuff out of your ears? many teams have gone on to win the title after they lost on opening night...

just ask the 2004 Detroit Pistons

I wouldn't be surprised by those stats at all. Yao averaged 33 points against the Lakers last year, so I think Yao can drop 30 against the Lakers in his sleep. He's also playing Mihm which is a more traditional center which last year he was out. Yao plays a lot better against traditional bigs than the small gnatty ones.

The insane-Rockets-fan part of my brain is expecting to blow every team out by 40 points and go 82-0.

The more realistic part of my brain knows that there will probably have to be an adjustment period and we won't be firing on all cylinders until after All-Star break. Especially with our tough November.

We'll be 3rd in Southwest for the first half of the season, but eventually we'll pass Dallas and hopefully San Antonio. Of course the big issue is postseason, but I won't let that take away from enjoying this game which I've been looking forward to for a VERY long time. (And which we will win)

Aren't you supposed to shoot from your longest finger? (my longest is my middle finger).

NBA.com say Kobe's is expected to play, so is he?
Can a team change the inactive list just until the games started?

    Houston's starting lineup:

    HOUSTON
    Alston, Rafer
    Battier, Shane
    Francis, Steve
    Hayes, Chuck
    Head, Luther
    James, Mike
    Landry, Carl
    McGrady, Tracy
    Mutombo, Dikembe
    Scola, Luis
    Wells, Bonzi
    Yao Ming

    INACTIVE LIST
    Brooks, Aaron
    Novak, Steve
    Snyder, Kirk

That's a pretty formidable lineup. It's a shame that Brooks is on the inactive list!

Let's ask Clubber what his prediction is:

If that's our starting lineup, we're going to run circles around all those team that start only 5 guys!
