This was posted on LakersGround. I have no reason to believe that they made up the fact that it appeared on the radio, but it seems that they do not trust this particular radio station and the report relied on nameless sources anyway. Of course, if Kobe and Odom both sit that means there's a free win for us.
Man, what did Mitch Kupchak do to the Lakers...look at that Laker roster....quite a come down from what Jerry West built.
Mitch is a douche. He got Olajuwon ejected during that one playoff series. No wonder his name rhymes with b****.
Disappointed to see Brooks on inactive list. Overall, besides one game each, he showed more promise than Landry, especially in today's NBA. But I'll trust, again, that Adelman is much much smarter than me about these things. Hope Brooks gets some NBDL at least.
I think this is more about roster composition and depth. There's a much greater likelihood of some combination of Yao, Hayes, Deke, and Scola getting into injury/foul trouble than Rafer, James, and Francis all getting hurt/into foul trouble. In the latter scenario, Luther and TMac could still run the point in a pinch; in the former scenario, Battier is now playing the 4. I think with 3 PGs capable of running 35 minutes a night and emergency options to spare, letting Brooks work on a few specific things in the NBDL makes sense.
i agree. well said. in college my coach broke the team down into post players and perimeter players. the need for a 5th post player is greater than the need for an 8th perimeter player. that's why brooks, novak, and snyder (all perimeter players) will be inactive.
Okay, on Operation Sports a Chicago poster wrote this.... Now, I live in Chicago, but I don't really listen to the radio so I haven't heard anything. I'm just adding to the data that we have, but IF this deal gos through, it's explain why Kobe is on the inactive list, and if it happens tonight, the Lakers get raped and you can pencil us in for an opening day win.
