Just curious as to what your guess is as to how this situation will play out... whether he'll be a pro and earn minutes like Juwan or get demotivated and eventually leaving the team like Bonzi and Spanny Franchise.

I'm hoping that Adelman has dealt with enough head-cases so that his sitting of Francis is a calculated attempt at motivating him. He did say the guys who played are just playing best right now and things are not written in stone.

I don't see it. I was so stoked by the francis signing, but this reeks of textbook pouting-wannabe-superstar. Makes me sad.

My guess is he will grumble and demand a significant role. If he doesn't get what he wants he will be traded. However if he starts to fit in after some time things are bound to be better for the team.

Here's hoping he's taking the challenge and working his way back in not whining like Bonzi last year.

SF3 will be fine, somehow he should learn a lesson from Bonzi. This year Bonzi is the only guy who played the consistent games in new system so far. But last year, Bonzi was labelled as a useless player. SF3 needs learn new sytem first before playing enough mins.

He has too much talent to let scrubs like Alston and Head keep minutes away from him forever. Once Adelman realizes what a liabilty Alston is offensively, and Head is mentally and vertically, Francis will get time.

I dunno if it's Stevie or not, but we are going need another point guard besides Rafer 'Brick' Alston and Mike 'Jack it up' James. That's for sure.

Barring any major injuries I see stevie being shipped out at the trade deadline. To who? I have no idea since I doubt many contenders want him, since he was shipped off by 3 lottery teams. The trade will be more of a favor to stevie since he signed here on the cheap, so I dont expect to recieve anything meaningful in return.

Okay Mr. Van Gundier/CH, I read your post and I have to say where do you get this ****. He didn't just sit around this summer , he worked out continuously until he had the baby. And he didn't come in out of shape like last season's Bonzi Wells and he still has more athleticism than any other Pg on the team so what's with all the stupid post and threads acting like the guy is the next Dennis Rodman. Yes he is out of basketball shape but not out of shape. Did you see the interview with his shirt off. He is a talented athlete who wants to play and contribute to a winning team and he wants that team to be Houston.

Francis made ten statements along the team line, "It's coach's decision" and then 1 statement when asked what happens when you don't play at all". He answered matter of factly "that he didn't come here to not play at all". What would you have him say I am happy sitting on the bench all season. SHow me a player who is happy sitting on the bench and I'll show you a player who needs to stay there. It doesn't make him a head case because he wants to play. He is ready to contribute in anyway asked but sitting on the bench is not contributing and eventually he will grow tired of that and want to go somewhere else if the Rockets don't need him. But the Rockets will want to send him some place else as well. But that doesn't make him a possible head case. Geez the stupidity in some of these threads.

I hope he works out, but it just seems like SF part 2 is not starting out smooth. As such, I'm not too optimistic.

I can see SF3 eating Head's and James's minutes, once he gets back into shape. He can score as well as either and is better with assists (which is not saying a lot).

I don't see SF3 taking minutes from Rafer or TMac. Believe!

I'd like Steve to stay if he can only forget his pride for a moment i'm sure he'll find a way to be in the rotation.

has potential, signs reduced contract, shows up out of shape, upset about not cracking the rotation...

    this year's Steve = last year's Bonzi

I really think Steve will come in handy, especially when Tmac misses games due to his bad back. Hopefully Stevie works hard and gets his mind right so he can contribute. No room for inflated egos on this team, but I think Stevie still has enough left to make a big impact.

Francis himself has admitted he isn't in the best physical shape:

"The shape in which Francis arrived was somewhat round. He took his shirt off after practice Saturday and joked that he has an eight-pack of abs, instead of a six-pack." (source)
