Just curious all you guys buying GHIII, are you also planning to buy Rock Band? I can't think of any reason to buy GHIII over Rock Band, besides price.

A friend and I are going to split the cost of RB, and I got GHIII. I'm going to enjoy both of them too, even if it is "fake".

The reason I personally enjoy games like that is because I don't have time to hold down a fulltime+ job and handle family concerns while learning how to play guitar. I only have a certain number of hours in a day. Guitar Hero allows me to play something like the opening riff to "Evenflow" (a personal favorite) just like how I hear it on the radio. Is it fake? Sure, but at the same time the sounds produced are something I did. I still get a feeling of accomplishment when I 5* a song like "The Seeker", "Same Old Song and Dance", or "Slow Ride".

Games are supposed to allow us to do things we wouldn't get to do in everyday life. Save the princess, destroy the bad guy, save the world, or throw the game winning touchdown pass. Why should playing a perfect cover of "My Name is Jonas" be any different? But if you go on Youtube and look up a Guitar Hero video chances are you'll find someone posting, "U Suk! Learn 2 play a REAL guitar!" Why bother? Game or real life, you're still showing an appreciation for the art of guitar playing.

I just wish the wireless guitar would work.

Speaking of guitar heroes, I am finding myself more and more feeling that Jeff Beck is the best guitarist, living, of all-time. Don't get me wrong - I heart Clapton and Jimmy Page, but Beck seems, to me at least, to have the most interesting solos and riffs out of all the guitar greats. I wish search was up so I can bring the old great guitarists thread back, but alas, it is down. :( :)

He keeps the blues roots, but has his own unique style, ala Hendrix. Definitely interesting. Hard to say who is "best", IMHO. Just like who is the best baseball player, best tiddlywinks player, etc.

I didn't know if you caught that I said "living" as I am in the camp that Hendrix was the best ever. I find it unfortunate that Beck doesn't get the recognition like a Clapton or a Page, but a lot of that is his own fault (his legendary temperament and jumping around stylistically - going from blues rock to r&b to fusion jazz, etc.). I read that Hendrix considered Beck to be a friend and was influenced by Beck (especially his playing in the Yardbirds).

I think the thread I remembered here was who was the 2nd greatest guitarist ever as it was a given that Jimi was #1. I think the consensus was Clapton with Page a close 2nd.

I hate to be anal here, but after those 15,000 posts you still can't figure out the difference between your and you're?

not to mention, I highly doubt the soldiers overseas think the people playing halo are "dorks" just because they make money "doing the real thing". last I checked halo is insanely popular over there as well.

by the way, I've seen heard/seen quite a few musicians (for example, a lot of the bands who actually contribute their music to guitar hero) who I imagine make substantially more money than you "doing the real thing" that love playing guitar hero.

as far as your karaoke comparison, uh... last I checked people using karaoke hasn't stopped people from being professional singers in any way. I don't think dance dance revolution has effected very many professional dancers either.

I'm not sure why your posts struck a chord (pun intended), but the moral of the story is...your logic is dumb. by the way, before you make yourself look even more silly, I don't own nor do I play guitar hero. oh, and I play a real guitar, albeit for my own enjoyment.

Sorry for the typo, assclown. It might be time for you to put the joystick down and pick up a dictionary...either that or pony up for an enema to clear out your "anal" problem!:D

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/yourself

your·self Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[yoor-self, yawr-, yohr-, yer-]
    1. (an emphatic appositive of you or ye): a letter you yourself wrote.
    2. a reflexive form of you (used as the direct or indirect object of a verb or the object of a preposition): Don't blame yourself. Did you ever ask yourself “why”? You can think for yourself.
    3. Informal. (used in place of you, esp. in compound subjects, objects, and complements): Ted and yourself have been elected. We saw your sister and yourself at the game. People like yourselves always feel like that.
    4. (used in absolute constructions): Yourself having so little money, how could they expect you to help?
    5. your normal or customary self: You'll soon be yourself again.
    6. (used in place of you after as, than, or but): scholars as famous as yourselves; a girl no older than yourself.
    7. oneself: The surest way is to do it yourself.

Time to go back into seclusion...and keep your joystick in your pants! :D

Yes sir, you pointed out a typo (my bad) and you most certainly are an assclown. Any questions?
