Anybody know what would be a good place to buy a vacation home? For the longest time I was thinking Cabo San Lucas, but that place is becoming so commercialized now. I know a bunch of you and/or your parents have vacation homes in Mexico, Caribbean, or Central America. Something right on the beach with not a lot of people around.
We looked hard at Roatan. Established English speaking community, good property rights, lower prices than Belize and the Bahamas. Just recently air travel in from Houston and Miami has expanded into more than just once a week flights. On the downside the cruise lines have just signed long term deals to bring in ports so it may become overrun with daily tourist during cruise season. We came close to putting an offer in on this house "Casa Alamo" http://bayislandproperties.com/homes.htm at the top but decided to go a different direction.
