Can anyone on this team be a leader?

T-mac as we all know can't handle too much pressure. His panties always seem to bunch up when too much heat is applied.]

Yao- Well we all know he is still soft as tissue paper. Hakeem tried to give a dose of aggressiveness, and yes he is trying but come on...... we have to be realistic, yao will never be a leader. He is simply too passive.

Battie is a follower and does not want to be a leader. He is happy as a role player.

Mike James- wants to be a leader but in name only. He just is not a great team player. He does not make everyone around him better. He tries to win games on his own.

Steve Francis- Lot of heart. Has good leadership qualities. But lacks discipline and all around game.

Others- Well simply put......They are just role players.

    What Do You Guys Think?
Who is your leader on this team? Or do we even have one
    ?

Can we trade Rafer, Reed and about 7 of your exclamation marks for a leader?

our 2 stars LEAD BY EXAMPLE. the role players just don't follow.

duncan/wade lead by example. even wade said he never yells or criticizes his teammates to pump them up or motivate them in the locker room. he just LEADS by example.

so let our 2 stars do that. we have talented guys as to where they can follow that example

If we follow your statement, then it proves my point.

T-mac= 6 times, no playoff series win.
Yao= No clutch wins as of yet. Leave it up to him and he'll be content with being stagnant. " I jus ah happy to be ah play here ah :D in Merica "

or if u follow my point, we don't have the role players and depth to follow those examples. b/c following tmac's example is not bricking teardrops and shooting 33% from the field on wide open shots :p

people lead it by different way. JVG yells and screams. adelman just sits on the bench. phil sits on the bench.

why have phil won? he has the greatest players of all time. w/ very good role players. does that mean phil is a better coach/leader?

no. u need players. this yr, our team is STACKED.

is nash a good leader or does he just have 3 all stars playing with him. is dirk? or does he have great depth? does duncan? or does he just have 2 other guys to go w/ him + best perimeter defender.

leading is easy when u have the pieces to carry it out. :D

Yes, Tmac is the superstar but how much can you expect from him. No help except from Yao. The pressure is too much for any star to handle. The way he carried the team when Yao is out, it shows that Tmac can handle pressure. This coming season should be the telling year. I will give Tmac the benefit of doubt.

Yao as soft as tissue paper. What give you that idea? Maybe, he is not as aggressive as some you posters would like but I will not call Yao soft. For a player who play through pain and was able to achieve ppg of 20+, I certainly would not call him 'tissue paper' soft.

In short, Yao is not as soft as tissue paper (well some tissue paper actually really tough :D ); As time goes, Luis Scola could be a leader, similar to Manu in Spurs.

T-Mac has a "C" next to him on the rockets.com>roster. That stands for captain and captain means:

cap·tain /ˈkæptən, -tɪn/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[kap-tuhn, -tin] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. a person who is at the head of or in authority over others; chief; leader.
    1 Tracy McGrady - C G-F 6-8 223 05/24/1979 Mount Zion Christian Acad. HS (NC) 10
    C - Captain

Ok, you didn't mean by title, you meant by execution on the court.

    Ok, debate on.

Great job at trying to stereotype Yao with the Gook-Type Language. But you know what, I think Yao with his limited English probably can still speak better English than your Ebonic talkin' or Trailer Trash speaking family.

"We're not as dumb as you think we is"

Maybe the Rox should trade Yao for Kobe. At least he will not be surrounded by idiots like this fool...

One of the things the team lacked last year was passion and fire. And what the team acquired in the offseason was just that...in the form of Mike James, Stevie and Scola (in time).

If this years team would not jumpstart as we all hoped to be, expect us to go to acquiring Kobe...he has the passion and the killer instinct that this team needs..

I am a Rockets Fan. But i am not naive though. I am a realist. Just because you and whoever else chooses to beleive that every Rockets team is a championship team does not mean that the rest of us who know the truth are not true fans! Our team has a number of additions and also a number of problems. Lets make sure we analyze both. Can we please keep it real in here!

True, neither Yao nor T-mac are growling, snarling competitors. But that’s their way. I look for Deke and SF3 to be the inspirational power behind the throne – the ones who will constantly keep on Y+T to be aggressive and find their killer instinct.

Scola shows that he already has the eye of the tiger and everyone will come to respect that he belongs.

Leadership can come in many forms as we’ve seen with the recent change in coaching style. This is a great team of players who will find their way. It’s just too soon for it to be apparent to us because everyone is still struggling technically.

    Stay strong, my people!

It seems to me Battier has been acting very much like a floor leader.
