Just wanted to share a little bit of my timely good fortune. My company's retirement plan has a fund that is doing quite well right now. Just a little FYI for you MF investors. I'm sure there are tons of these international funds that are doing well right now...so I'll save some due diligence (if anyone is interested). :) It's a good entry-level fund with low initial investment amount ($250).

    New World Fund
    1 year return (as of September 30, 2007): 42.08%

(edit: Invest at your own risk...don't blame me if you lose your ass! ;))

Most of the South American investment funds that I've seen have history charts that look like the profile of a rollercoaster. This, obviously, isn't all South America but invests in other markets that I assume are similar (Egypt, India). During the next recession (which may just about be here) it will go in the tank followed by another positive cycle.

You shouldn't get too high about what you see thus far, in the same way you shouldn't flip out when it goes in the toilet down the line. At least that is my advice. I assume your goal is long term and these international funds will whipsaw back and forth. It's just part of the territory.

A lot of those emerging market funds are doing awesome. I wish I got in there last year.
