Well, looks like my poor attemtpt at sarcasm has failed miserably. Sorry guys, I was just trying to make a point that whoever says what I have said in that post is a jerk. danny317, actually I agree with every word that you have said. The idiots who think they can call other people FOB or other derogatory names as they like are jerks.
Ouch! Why does it suck? I mean, I write articles baseded what I have seen and shared in depth information from my locker room interviews with Yi. You guys are brutal, lol.
Prior to last nights game against the Bulls, Yi had a four game stretch where he started every game. In his four starts he averaged... min 25 FG% 56% FT% 72% Reb 6.25 PPG 9.25 He is not a finished project by any means. He himself realizes he has to get stronger. He has done everything the coaching staff has asked him to do. One good thing is the Bucks have seven players who can score twenty plus on a given night... Redd Mo Bogut CV Bell Mason Simmons ...so he can afford to be eased into the league. The kid has 20% of the world on his shoulders, so at least in his own locker room he can take a slower pace.
In china lots of my friends don't like YI JIANLIAN. They gave him a nickname. Yi JianLian in Chinese is the same prounce as 一贱脸(a stupid face)
He'll turn out to be WZZ #2. Just wait and see. I'm not even gonna talk about all that crap called "intangibles" and "heart." Whatever potential he may or may not have, the Bucks will ruin him. The kid has all the tools to succeed but isn't being used properly. The Bucks are a whole team of chuckers shooting outside jumpers and use him to set pick near the 3 point line, without the roll. Occasionally when a player gets trapped, they pass to him 3 feet beyond the FT line for an outside jumper. Good thing he's got a decent mid-range shot, or he'd be shooting much lower than 42%. You'd think with a young big man on a team and a conference desperately needing a good one, they'd try to develop his low post game. But noooooo, they didn't even try to have him at a go at it in the preseason, with Bogut out of the line-up. There's a reason Villeneuva turned from an undersized 4 with an unpolished low post game into an undersized 4 who's a 3 point chucker and Bogut didn't develop any (injury aside) in his first two years. See? Exactly like WZZ in Dallas, with the exception that Wang was old and probably wouldn't have gotten too much better. Yi will just be wasted for the next 3 years and turn from an unfinished product with a ton of upside to just an unfinished product.
I have to LOL at some of the posts here. Let me just correct a few of the misconceptions. 1. Yi is NOT, I repeat NOT, a Dirk Nowitzki type player. He is far more athletic and plays primarily in the post, scoring with dunks, putbacks, hook shots and turnaround jumpers. He is also a very good mid-range shooter. But he is not near Dirk in terms of shooting skills. People need to stop with the "Yi is a perimeter player" stuff, because he ain't. 2. Anyone who thinks Yi has average athleticism and speed for an NBA seven-footer is out of their mind. Del Harris, who coached the CNT for a short period, said he had never seen someone of Yi's size run as fast or jump as high as he can. Andrew Bogut has said that Yi is almost as fast as a small forward. 3. Yi does need to add weight and strength but he is far from skinny or weak for that matter. He is a legit 246lbs with 3.4% bodyfat. He has broad shoulders and will be able to add plenty of weight to his frame. He has a far stronger body than a number of other rookies in the 2007 draft class, e.g Brandan Wright, Corey Brewer, Kevin Durant, Joakim Noah. Now, I'm not hyping Yi as he still clearly has alot of work to do before he can come close to a Garnett, Bosh, Gasol or Boozer. But he does have the potential to be as good as those guys. Let's just wait until Yi has actually played some games before declaring he will never be as good as Yao, yeah?
It has been reported that Yi will start at PF for the Bucks to begin the season. It seems he has done better than Yao at the same stage (i.e. he's starting to begin his career.) I really hope he doesn't embarrass himself and suck because his coach is putting a lot of faith in him to let him start and giving him a great chance. Big minutes are his if he plays well. I'd love to see him take advantage of that chance.
CV has been clearly the better PF for the bucks in the preseason. I think the coach knows that but still decided to start Yi so he can bring CV off the bench as the scoring punch in the 2nd unit? Or maybe he's under the pressure from the top to play Yi? Anyway, Yi's play so far isn't so bad that he doesn't deserve to be on the court, and I think he'll be fine.
I wouldn't say that's true. Out of the Bucks' preseason games, I'd say CV had 2 good games, mostly off the bench again inferior competition. When he was starting he really wasn't doing much. Yi wasn't doing well in the first couple of preseason games, but at least he was active, setting picks and everything. Oh, did I also mention that he wasn't a 3 point chucker like Charlie V?
Yi sucks so bad that he's starting over CV for the Milkwaukee Bucks. Do you guys still think he can't average double #'s in points? and around 7 or 8 rebounds??? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...vLYF?slug=ap-bucks-starters&prov=ap&type=lgns
Go Yi Go! He will average 16 points and 7 rebounds his rookie season. Runner up to Durant as Rookie of the Year
