I just want to add in my 2 cents on all the people who say "I'll take Yao putting up 15/5(or whatever random low stat) as long as we win" crap. This makes no sense at all. Absolutely no sense from the Rockets standpoint.

If Yao is only capable of Brad Miller output of ~16/10/4(which actually isn't that bad all things considered), then Yao should be traded, or Adelman should be fired.

Why? Because Yao is worth more than that. And that we might as well trade Yao to another team for someone the caliber of Brad Miller + another starter in return, if that's how he's going to be utilized. Otherwise, we're just wasting capspace on a player who doesn't deserve the max. After all, does Brad Miller deserve to get the max and be the #1(or #1A) option on your team?

Yao will post at least 20 ppg, grab 9+ rebounds, get a couple of dimes a game in Adelman's offense. Otherwise, Adelman needs to get the management trade Yao to get someone who fits his system better.

Yeah, Yao! Stay in the low post and have no versatility to your game! Nevermind that your offensive game becomes predictable and easy to counter! God, Adelman is so stupid for trying to remedy that.

As long as we win, I don't see an issue Yao averaging less ppg. There's just alot more weapons that can score when compared to last year.

he is normally a very smart basketball guy but today he was trying to tell me that Yao will not average more than 15 ppg in Adelman's offense because 1. it doesn't suit him, and 2. he is too out of shape to keep up

your friend was not normal that day he talked to you

That's right Yao's role on the offensive end will change a lot. But damn 15 points it's not enough I think.

You know what, I'm happy with that type of Yao. He will be different. He can deliver the ball to the other teammates. But in the same time he can get more open positions, outside but also inside. Yao's life will be easier, that right.

But look at his asist this year. They're gonna grow a lot I think.

In my opinion Yao this year will be first of all a better passer, and a rebounder. His PPG can go down but only a little bit. I expect him to score 22-23 PPG.

    Don't worry!

That is exactly what Yao said during an interview with a chinese reporter. Playing so much at high post in the preseason is only for the purpose of testing the new system. In regular season, Yao will be asked to play mainly at low post.

i think its great that yao is getting out of the low post. we all saw what happened when yao was our first option. he shot 45% against the jazz and was getting swatted by okur. :D

You make it sound as if Okur was swatting Yao shots left and right. From what I remember, most of the time, it was AK who came in from the weakside/blind side to block him. I'm not saying Yao isnt at fault for such a poor series, but our faulty coaching strategy and weak bench definitely had something to do with it.

From the analysis by several statistical minded NBA gurus, he is expected to make his yearly improvement and could reach:-

That would be MVP type numbers if he play close to 82 games.

Good point. Where there are so many changes, there's a learning curve for everyone.

Your post is r****ded on so many different levels. So you said Yao should get out of the low post based on 7 games out of his 5 years career? And are you also saying that Yao has never been first opinion on the team until those 7 games? Right, keep saying that "it doesn't matter though because we'll win more" stuffs to pretend that you really worry more about the team. Your purpose here is only to hate on a Rocket player. Too bad the search function is off otherwise you can easily be exposed by your past posts. Consistent pattern of past posts doesn't lie. Anyone with half a brain can see that you are just a hater and your only purpose here is to spread your hate.

This was discussed when RA became the Rockets head coach..

My take on it is that Both Yao Ming and Tracy Mcgrady will have lower stats than last year in PPG, Rebounds, & MPG. Tracy Mcgrady # for assists will also go down but Yao Mings will go up. I think both Yao and Tracy will see a decrease in Blocks shots but Tracy's Steals per game might go up slightly.

It is what it is because the offense will not be 90% Tracy and Yao. Also our PG situation will take the load off of Tracy.
