I just came back from a Springsteen concert, and I'm still shaking. It's unbelievable how much energy he has and shares in his 50s. I wish I could have seen him when he was a twenty something scamp talking about his family at the LA Roxy in the middle of "Growin' Up." Or in Atlanta when he talked about him and the E street gang running into aliens in Jersey while ordering pizza. Or at Hammersmith. Or...

Led Zeppelin Whenever.... I really hope the possibility of one last tour isn't too good to be true. Yeah so Bonham won't be there which sucks, but his kid, Jason, should do fine in his place.
I went to the 2nd Lollapalooza in Houston in 1992. Incredible show. Eddie Vedder was nuts- he climbed the six-story stage scaffolding during 'Evenflow' and sang a few verses (Pearl Jam's 'Ten' is the best album of all time, IMO). The Chilli Peppers were in underwear and had these flaming helmets on. Soundgarden and Pearl Jam got together and sung Temple of the Dog. Ice Cube sung '**** the Police' and all the cops got really nervous and angry. Ministry stole the show in my opinion - awesome energy, even though it was all good. Cypriss Hill, STP and House of Pain weren't in the 1992 lineup. Here's the lineup: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush. Still damn good. I went to the show the next few years and saw other bands like Rage and Tool, but none were ever as awesome as 1992. I also saw Metallica a couple times right after their Black album came out. Awesome live. Completely different crowd from the Lollapalooza crowd. I did see Cypriss Hill, Henry Rollins and The Beastie Boys in 1994 (I think). Great show. I met the guy in Cypriss Hill who repeated every line wandering around the concourse of the theater looking for nachos. Funny as hell.
I was also at that show. Great experience. I also saw Metallica 4 times before their black album. I haven't seen them since the And Justice for all show.
I was there! I saw ALL of that! I have the shirt! That was a truly AMAZING concert. When Ice Cube came on, the area in front of the stage was pretty cleared out. I wanted to be up front for Ministry (which was up next) so I went up there and stood at the very front during Ice Cube's show. Surprisingly, I enjoyed Ice Cube's show a lot, even though I'm not a big rap fan. Toward the end of his show, it started getting REALLY crowded. When Ministry came on, I was still up front for a while, but it was just too damned crowded for me to enjoy the show. I was part of a cluster of people that fell over. I was on top of people. There were people on top of me, and none of us could get up. After the 2nd time that that happened, I said, "F this." I looked at one of the big bouncer-type guys that were protecting the stage, and I indicated that I wanted to go up and out. The guy picked me up like I was a twig and launched me over the crowd (in a harmless sort of way) and I crowd-surfed to the side where I was let down and stepped away from the dense crowd. That's the only time in my life that I've crowd-surfed.
I saw the first three Lollapaloozas, Prince, Pixies, John Lee Hooker, BB King, Etta James, Smashing Pumpkins, Mojo Nixon, GnR in their prime and The Dead Milkmen gave me a shout out during a show. George Carlin live & Jim Rose Circus (3X) too. Those would be on my list, as the ones I've seen. Haven't seen but would have liked: Beatles Doors SRV Rat Pack Bob Marley DK - (I saw Jello Biafra on one of his spoken word tours at #'s and was greatly dissapointed) Sex Pistols Marvin Gaye Otis Redding Elvis Johnny Cash and way too many others...
Deckard, Out of those artists I named, who do you think was the best show? I am guessing you will say Hendrix, but I am curious who you would pick not only for #1 but #2 and #3. Forgot to add Queen and The Doors (with Jim Morrison of course). Also would have loved to have seen Love right after the "Forever Changes" album.
