anyone play this? http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/portal/index.html It's a puzzle game. I've been playing it at my friends house. I'm hooked, and I rarely play games anymore, because I can get so addicted. ...now i'm probably going to have to buy a new machine to play this on...or i just need to let go of the mouse and walk slowing away. The Portal gun should become a weapon in first person games.
I bought Orange Box for the 360 and this was the first game I played. Beat it in about 3 hrs or so, and it was a lot of fun. It had a very unique design and using those portals was a blast. I agree, a weapon like that in an FPS would create lots of interesting gameplay scenarios. I'd be all for it! Best part about the game is the ending credits. The song at the end makes the whole experience that much better! You have to finish it and hear it!

or you could download Narbacular Drop the original game design by the students from Digipen. they were hired by Valve to design Portal and other games.
Portal: The Flash Version Click here. 40 levels. I played it for HOURS, and was glad and pissed at the same time that it was only 40 levels. Fun game.
From one of the reviews I read, it sounded as though Valve had released the map building tools (similar to Half Life 2 and Counterstrike Source) so that new levels could be created.
From what I understand Portal is kind of the evolution of a freeware game made by some Digipen kids (who now work at Valve). What they created, though, was the fundamental 'design' (the portals), though I believe even that was changed (as far as the mechanics of what the player could do) as well. But everything else was developed as Portal (the setting, fitting of the 'plot' into HL universe, etc.) I don't want to say too much if you haven't played it DaDa, but the game really is unique and is way beyond just the basic 'portal' design. Creating an atmosphere, story, and 'characters' for a puzzle game are what make it so memorable. Just a lot of fun.
he was more or less poking fun at Valve because they are pretty notorious for buying ideas/mods.... **cough*Counterstrike*cough** but you are right and i posted the link to the download of the original called narbacular drop
