Come on, that was hilarious. Sam didn't exactly sound like a Rhodes Scholar in that interview.

I guess it's OK to call Cassell "ET" or put him in every "ugliest player in the NBA" thread, just as long as it's behind the safety of a computer and not on camera...

Who said that those who do that are not immature insensitive fools? What’s the difference of making fun of this guy compared to someone with a disability? It’s the same thing. My parents brought me up better than to make fun of someone with differences, especially when they have no control over the situation.

I guess some people just take longer to grow up.

I agree. that was classless. its not like the dude was after someone that the public dislikes. also it was making fun of someone's physical appearance instead of making fun of someone's actions.

Mad Max would have put an extra 20 years on his prison sentence if he was there. That kid would have a permanent "100 LBS" tattooed on his face.

i thought that it was just rude and obnoxious. sam handled himself well and even tried to help the kid. the kid did not deserve it. that last comment about sam being awesome did not wash the rest of it away.

You really think it's ok to approach someone you don't know and insult him to his face? Ask him whether he looks more like E.T. or Gollum? That "kid" is a tool.

Sam can't control the way he looks. I'm sure he's been laughed at his whole life. But he's a winner, a leader, and has two rings, so I guess that's scoreboard. And he handled himself great in that interview, imo.

i'm sure Sam and that punk went to a club in LA. Sam would get in VIP plus all the girls cause they know he's a ball player and that dude is a scrub.

Hopefully, the real Sam Cassell doesn't have as big a problem with reading comprehension as his clutchfans namesake. All I'm saying is that if I had a dollar for every time Sam was made fun of on this board, I'd be living next door to Rashard Lewis.

Besides, he didn't really insult Cassell, he brought up the fact that other people insult him. That last question (ET or Gollum) was clearly him just trying to get under Sam's skin. Heck, Cassell was egging him on at that point. I just found the whole exchange between the two to be funny, that's all...

You've got to understand that there will always be people out there making fun of others…. does that mean its okay to do the same?

Ironic that you're insulting me, after calling out other people for making anonymous message-board insults. Either way, you're the one, out of everyone who has posted, who doesn't see the difference between insulting someone to their face and insulting them in a forum that they'll never see. I can tell my friends that Sarah Jessica Parker has a horse face, but I wouldn't say that to her in person because it's impolite. A face-to-face insult is far more offensive that one that the person never sees or hears. Everyone gets that except for you.

And it's ridiculous to say that his comments weren't insults because he was supposedly repeating something that someone else said. All he's done is change the phrasing - the message is the same, whether he says "you're ugly" or "people say you're ugly". Repeating the insult is as bad as saying it yourself. Again, you just don't get it.

You just keep on thinking that. I'm pretty sure that every single person in the world, except you, would rather have a person say something to their face than behind their back.

So, if I came up to you and said somebody else called you a delusional idiot, you would get mad at me, instead of the person that actually insulted you? Uhhh, yeah...I'M the one that doesn't get it...

And if I told you that I've heard your mom is a *****, you wouldn't get mad at me? I'm bulletproof as long as I say I heard it from someone else? What if I lied about hearing it elsewhere?
