There's no doubt that we WANT the Rockets to win it all.
But why do we think the media should think we WILL win it all?

counting the chickens before they hatch? or hoping the chickens hatch?

    poll included.

The media doesn't. Cuz for them, Yao is soft, T mac's sissy, Francis' gone, Rafer sucks, and scola doesn't deserve to be MVP in FIBA Americas

why do they think that? what is their basis?

based on our history, i reserve judgment til the playoffs:
    1. to see if all our parts are there (everyone healthy)
    2. to see our chemistry
    3. to see our performance WHEN THE PRESSURE IS HIGH

Regular season to me is about playoff positioning. Home court, matchups in the playoffs.

    That's my explanation.

Because we have the most talented starting lineup and a deep bench.RA is a great coach also who will play to the strengths rather than trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Our hole at PF has been filled.
This team is designed for the good season record and will be able to play the half court game that is so important come playoff time.
Get ready for the parade barring injury.

    The Houston Rockets are loaded.

Dallas counted their chickens before they hatched last year.
    got the worst playoff matchup
    plus
their performance UNDER PRESSURE was "heartless"

    rick adelman's playoff performance

I respect that answer. cause rick adelman has made it to the NBA playoffs with the Blazers and made to the WCF with the Kings.

    to counter that:
the Blazers had no answer or good strategy for Michael Jordan, some argue that they needed more help for Drexler

the Kings should have won but was lax in defense specifically leaving Robert Horry open and absolute zero defense on Kobe

No answer for MJ, Shaq-Kobe is better than no answer for Boozer.

Dallas doesn't have Yao...and whether it's Tracy or Kobe we're looking damn good...Tinman,I thought you wanted an answer to that question Daddyo.
Up with our Rockets...It's OK to be pumped,

I also think RA will have us peaking at the right time and because of our depth we should be fresh for that deep run.

Not rying to be overexuberant it's just my final analysis.

2112 baby.....We have assumed control,we have assumed control!

or if you like a Point Break ref......."I am ready"

The media should say the Rox have a cahnce based on the players we have added, which is the scientific correct. But I guess Barkley would give no chance to the Rox.

I can distinguish Rocket fans believing based on FAITH that the Rockets will win it all.

However thinking our FAITH will spill into the media to me, makes no sense. and getting angry that the media does not share our views makes no sense either.

Lets say we were Laker fans who had just won back to back with Kobe and Shaq. if the media said we wouldn't win a third. Laker fans deserve to be pissed at the media.

We should only be pissed at the media if they dismiss our success. right now. we have zero wins and zero losses. If we start off 15-0, we deserve respect. if we start off 7-8, we don't.

if the lakers added Steve Francis, Louis Scola, Rick Adelman, and drafted Brooks. Does that make them the favorites?

The lakers lost in the first round also.

I liked it better before 1994 when the media and 99% of the posters here ignored The Rockets.

I straight up can't disagree with that. For that matter I long ago dismissed that East Coast bias/herd mentality that has been so prevalent forever. It's hard to fly under the radar with what we have but apparently we might do that for awhile. It's going to be interesting how we get out of the gate considering our schedule.
In the end I see us playing the Cavs or the Bulls...not the Celts.

you mean when we almost beat Seattle in the second round and built confidence to the next year
    instead of
getting your coach fired and rebuilding the team the next year after years of losing in the 1st round?

the hype for the Celtics was the same Hype for the big 3 (dream/drex/chuck). We played a team that exploited our weakness and lack of athleticism.

Media want to see a fresh team to be the title competitor. They are tired of spurs, suns, mavs, heats, and pistons.

News flash for the people who don't know:

The year we won the title
    we had:
    1. The 2nd Best Record in the NBA
    2. The league MVP

Credit has to be earned first.
