Yao and Kobe actually like each other. They're always smiling and talking with each other whenever they meet. Even with Shaq Kobe was awesome, on both ends of the floor and especially in the 4th quarter. Add his newfound passing skills (see FIBA Championships) and how Yao has a small ego and this trade would certainly improve the Rockets.
Who would have a problem giving up Aaron Brooks with Tracy to get it done? Tough call, but to get the machine?!?! There was a time when Tracy was superior to Kobe, but the back injury changed all that long ago.
Hold on i'll wait for you take Kobe's d___ out of your mouth...............................ok ready? If thats the image that you want on this team then fine. In fact I actually hope this trade actually goes through so Kobe can come in here and ruin a perfectly good thing that we have going on here. But I forgot, thats what you want right?
While Im against trading Tracy, some of these comments are reminding me of the people who were against trading Steve for Tracy back in '04...
I'd trade TMac, Head, Sura's expiring contract, and a 1st round pick to the Lakers for Kobe and Vlad Radmanovic. PG: Alston/James/Brooks SG: Bryant/Francis/Snyder SF: Battier/Wells/Radmanovic PF: Scola/Hayes/Landry C: Yao/Mutumbo/Butler You cut Lucas III, Reed, and Novak (not needed with Radmanovic on board). TMac < Kobe, but Head, cap relief, and the pick make the deal reasonable for LA. I'm sure Chicago can make a better offer, but will they?
If I was TMac I would try to somehow display his friendship with Yao on national TV... not that it's a real threat of happening anyway (we think).
Exactly. You start off with young players with potential and future draft picks. BUT, if you want to keep butts in the seats of your home games, you get a superstar back in return for your main event. In the Lakers' case, the ideal trade would involve a superstar, young players with potential and draft picks. I think the Rockets can fit that bill. Which is why I think the Rockets actually have a shot at landing Kobe if he's traded. T-Mac is a household name and would keep seats filled in LA. But if his back acts up, then there's no point in getting him. Which is why I think Stephen A. Smith might actually be telling the truth when he says the Lakers are concerned about his back.
Why don't you read my post at the bottom of page three before you talk? I don't want Kobe. He is a better all around player than Mcgrady, but I don't think he would be good for this team. Oh yeah, Baylor is a gay ass school. Show some respect to people and you will get it shown back.
I bet I would. My dad could also beat up your dad. But anyways, why come out and attack someone on an internet board? Respond to why you think I want Kobe? You read the my post on page three right? Can I have my apology?
I thought it was common knowledge that Baylor is a gay school. Do you have something against gays? S'all good, babe.
Fact is, it's not going to happen. First off, T-Mac is loved in Houston. He's as much of a Rocket as you can be. But second, and perhaps most importantly, is that LA would never do it. We'd absolutely have to send another player along with McGrady. And judging by the fact that the Lakers are (supposedly) rebuilding, it would have to be one or more of our young guys -- Brooks, Head, Novak, Scola, Snyder, Hayes, etc. And while I do love Kobe, the Rockets can't AFFORD him. He makes about $1m more than T-Mac, and if they didn't have enough money to keep MIKE HARRIS, there's no way they could keep Kobe Bryant. And with how intent Buss is on keeping Bynum around, there's no reason he'd want to trade for Yao. That's just stupid.
