Wow! I missed the game, but just watched these awesome highlight. Is it just me, or has T-Mac never looked this light on his feet as a Rocket? He looks skinnier than in his first season here.

The most telling thing about Mac in that game isn't in the highlights (at least not in the youtube clip).

He had the ball in the left corner, blew by his man going left on the baseline and tried to spin 180 and dunk it. He got smacked in the face going up got to shoot FTs. W/O the foul, it's a monster dunk and a great highlight.

Point is, he blasted by his man and his drive and lift looked effortless. We didn't see that much (if at all) last year. He looks like he's in great shape, and really does feel good.

I think he jumps higher than the last two seasons. And when you jump higher you need that move to control the balance. I think he's definitely in excellent shape as he stated himself in the interview.

more importantly, he seems at peace with his back. he has tried to do 2 facials in the in 2 of the 3 preseason games (one v. new orleans over chandler and this one over petro). i think that's more encouraging than anything.

Yeah that would have been a sick dunk, not to mention that its an extremely hard maneuver, especially for a right-handed player like him to do a reverse dunk coming from the LEFT.
In fact, I've never seen Kobe do that kind of dunk before

I actually think that Kobe's signature dunk nowadays is when he takes off from one side of the basket, double pumps and slams it down with one hand on the other side. Isn't that harder than what T-Mac was trying to do?

why doesn't tmac or the rockets just hire patterson personally?

i mean, patterson can work on tmac every 2-3 days rather than every month and his body would feel fresher DAILY and thus he'll be more refreshed going into EVERY game.

Well, actually, I bet the old Tmac could probably do it, and if fact, he has done a one handed reverse slam, except he didnt double-pump it, last year.
Also, you have to realize that doing anything that opposes your natural orientation (not that kind of orientation, Im talking about related to basketball, like left-handed or right-handed) is harder to do. If you noticed, Kobe only does it coming from the right side. I'm not sayin he can't do it, but to see Tmac doing it (well, almost) surprised me and showed me he still has some athleticism left.
And athletic, healthy Tmac= good things :)

Somebody needs to tell TMac not to take any more charges.

Agree in 100%. He's a great defender, he's quick enough (especially now), he's got long, quick arms to blosk the shoot and to contest it and he's got a strong body to take charges. He's able to be even a lot better 1on1 defender than Battier it. But that's not his task, especially charges.

Battier, Scola, Hayes - those huys take the charges perfectly so we don't need tmac here. It's aways a little more risk that he injuries his back. We just need him to be in the great shape, like he was with Sonics.

    That TMac guy... he's good.

I hope that Aaron Brooks aka the next Allen Iverson doesn't steal his minutes... I mean he is the point forward.
