I understand the mike james should not normally take 17 shots, but one good thing about this is we know that we have someone who is not afraid to step in take the load off yao and tmac when they are not playing well or injured. This is much approved from last year when yao and tmac were out we really had no real scorer.

Yao was off, tmac played alright because he was setting his teammates up. But 11 shots is too low for both stars They could've rebounded from the cold shooting if they had more attempts.

...what a difference a day makes, 24 little hours...

So as of tonight our team sucks with no chemestry; too many ball hogs; Scola WON'T be ready to take ROY honors at the start of the season; Coach-A's uptempo offense won't work with our players after all. Did I leave anything out?

We all knew (at least we should have) that it was going to take a while for the new system and players to mesh. at least now people will stop posting the threads about how we'll outscore every other team in the league and win 70 games. at least until we win the next PRESEASON game and all the threads start again.

    luv this board ;)

DUDE CHILL, everyone has ups and downs. Its part of playing on any sports team.
Thats why I'm not so surprised, because I've learned to expect everything, especially when it comes to sports

All as I hope is that Coach 'A' and his staff learned a lot from this game!! Because there is much to be corrected, especially players attempting to do things that they shouldn't be doing :-
eg Head should never bring the ball down the court. He is a shooter and scorer.
Point Guards should make their teammates better !
Scola plays better as a starter supporting Yao Ming (thats why we needed him)
Steve Francis needs to go on a crash course to get into game shape.
We have too many selfish players on this team to play the way Coach 'A' wants us to play etc etc. Obvious from the stats on NBA.com and the commentary on Clutch BBS.

Yao was embarrassing tonight... he really was. If you didn't see the game and you're asking why he didn't take more shots, you really needed to see how poor he looked. He hit 4-11 from the field, but one of those shots was tipped in by a Grizzlie. He could not get position well at all ... some post passes to him he couldn't handle. Just sloppy.

Battier also had no stroke working. He was missing open shots. After the awesome performance in Seattle to come up with this... ugh.

I didn't like Mike James' initial move to start the game (drive and miss a 12-footer, get his own board and miss right away again), but after that he played well in the first half. He was the only guy of our top 6 who was hitting. If there is a trend where he is consistently shooting more than Yao and T-Mac, I'd say that's not going to work ... but 0 assists is totally abnormal for Mike James (just as 7 for Luther Head is). He had 4 in 9 minutes the other day.

Scola - 4 turnovers in 23 minutes, 2-7 shooting. I mean damn ... our core guys were just flat terrible.

Without Rafer, we have to spend some time to get better chemistry. With Rafer, we can win it now.But I believe eventually our best choice at PG position will be somebody other than Rafer.

I'm not saying it was a bad trade for the Rockets. But to say JVG had nothing to do with it and to all of a sudden turn Battier into your number 1 franchise player is idiotic.

Same situation happened with the Rockets and Eddie Griffin. Rudy T was IN LOVE with him and was willing to do anything to land him. It wasn't Dawson who loved him and nobody came out and said our 3 draft picks were untouchable. In fact, NJ was able to choose the 3 players they wanted.

Yep, Landry definitely has some skills. I still think Harris is ahead of him though and it was a bad move to sign Landry, but he should definitely be in our long-term plans.

And now that we've cut Harris, I really hope Landry makes the team because he's come a long way since summer league and I think he's ready to help the team now. His got pretty impressive range on his jumper, good moves around the basket, and he was hustling to take some charges. He's way more athletic than Novak.

I still think Harris would have been better for the team, but once we signed Landry to a contract, we have to keep him or lose his rights.

No, he was a center. Played that position his whole career.

Clutch is right, the core guys just looked awful. Mike James was the only one who could hit a shot. He actually played pretty well I thought. Steve Francis even in garbage time reminded me why he will help this team, when nothing was happening and no one to turn to, he can still create SOMETHING....

The Grizzle is just funky to watch. Kinda like our team last year. I don't think their defense is that good, but the refs were allowing tons of contact and not calling any fouls. The physical nature of the game had both teams not shooting well and just an ugly game to watch. The crowd was dead, we left during the first overtime (kid's got school tomorrow...).

Landry was really impressive. Chuck and Deke looked awful on the high post with the ball. TMAC seemed disinterested, Yao looked like he was running in quicksand. Glad that ones over. They should just forfeit tomorrow's game.

I hope Rafer plays tomorrow so we can have some kind of a back to back reference of how the first unit play the first quarter. I can almost be sure of a completely smoother game tomorrow.
