When Mobley comes back, this is the starting lineup I would LOVE to see...

I know this will never, ever happen, but here it is anyway:

    Mobley
    Torres
    Williams
    Thomas
    Willis

Mobley has played the point before. All he would have to do is bring the ball up the court. We don't have a decent point now anyway, at least he can put the ball in the hole. Moochie has always been better as a spark off the bench. Mobley can move to his natural position when Mooch comes in. If the ball is going to be pounded into the ground anyway, at least Mobley has a good chance of making a shot.

Torres may be the surprise of the year. He is athletic, he plays defense, and his shooting isn't bad. He must be averaging at least 18 points since Francis went down. This guy could be a valuable role player for years.

Walt has proven all season long that he deserves to start over Rice. When the Rockets move the ball around, Walt is usually the beneficiary. When he is left open, his three point shot is usually around 90 percent. Let Rice EARN a starting spot.

Kenny is just a damn good player, and that's all there is to it.

Starting a Willis is not a dig towards Cato. On the contrary, I think Cato has done a solid job this season. He just doesn't provide much offense. Willis has a good hook shot, and he rebounds like a demon when given the time. He has also hustled more than any other player this year. He was the only person to put any effort into the Grizzlies game. He provides leadership, and he deserves to start.

Off the bench, Rudy can bring in:

    Norris
    Brown
    Rice
    Griffin
    Cato.

That's practically the starting lineup we have now. Rudy is not starting the five best players on the team. That is why the Rockets average about 79 points right now. My ideal starting lineup contains players who can put the ball in the basket, and that is what the Rockets need right now. Come on Rudy, break the mold. Shake things up!

I agree with the lineup, except that I would want Rice starting. Walt is thriving as a backup, and for the first time as a Rocket, he is producing.

I'm getting tired of Cato, so yes, bench him.

Bench Moochie too. We can't afford to let the other team's PG score 50 on us.

Walt should not be starting. Let EG have Walt's minutes.

I have to say that I am impressed. I'm not being sarcastic or facetious here. This post might have been the best ZRB post that I have read since I have been here.

Also, I may get derided for this, but I agree with him on the line-up....hell, I agree with his whole post!

However, this line-up will never happen because of Rudy's unwillingness to shake things up. This makes it frustrating for us fans at home.

Solid post and good job, ZRB!

    start:

    Griffin
    Thomas
    Rice
    Torres
    Mobely

    2nd team:

    Willis/Cato
    TMo/Griffin
    Wizard/Tmo
    Brown/Torres
    Norris

We need to use this time to get guys experience or develop them, rather than just put the best 5 on the floor, in my opinion. Develop the players so our team gets stronger as the year goes. I think its time to try out Griffin at the 5. Rice really needs to be played until he gets his shot back. We'll need him once Francis is back. I think TMo could use time at the 4, too. Continue to Get Torres lots of playing time, he certainly deserves that. And run more of the offense through Kenny. He's getting better and better... I think I've given up on Cato... rats, I was really hoping he'd get his act together this year ...

    Great Post ZRB!

My only fear is that the team will get too "into" that lineup, and will have a difficult time adjusting when Francis comes back. I think I'd rather see:

    Willis
    Thomas
    Torres at SF
    Mobley at SG
    Moochie at PG

Moochie is a solid starting PG (great backup, but solid starting as well), while Cuttino is not really a good PG. He played it his rookie year, but he's not all that great at it. Torres is undersized for a SF, but not really that badly, considering he's shandon's size, and plays twice as big. I am just unbelievably impressed with Oscar's hustle, his intensity, shooting, everything. The comparisons to Clyde Drexler are not bad -- he's got solid defense, a nice shot from all over the floor, good rebounding ability, nice passing, and great ball handling. He can drive and dunk, dish or shoot -- a magnificent find!

That would also give us a lineup that easily allows Steve to come in for Moochie when he returns, and keep the rest of the nucleus consistent.

ZRB could be the Rockets best "post" player.

    Sign him up Rudy!

If we are an athletic team then start the athletes. My coaching instructions remain the same: run, run, run. At this poing what do we have to lose?

    Mobley 22pts
    Torres 18 pts
    Thomas 16pts
    Griffin 12 pts
    Willis 12pts.....80point

    Moochie 3
    Williams 4
    Rice 4
    Langhi 4
    Cato 2....... 97points total

When Francis comes back, Torres to the bench as 6th man, ahead of rice, moochie and williams.

I say go without a center like Dallas does. The only teams we need a center against are S.A. and the Lakers. So starting Griffin at the 5 mighyt not be a bad idea, except for against the Spurs or Lakers.

But rather than focusing on the starting lineup, I think the Rockets should finish the 4th quarter with that lineup. That's when the game is on the line.

For the people who have the same negative opinion of Cato right now as tey did last year, well, I have a name for you guys..In fact, we should use the name more often...Boxscore person..

Example: "Let's face it, you're one of those boxscore people."

We have lots of them on the board, and so it might come in handy.

P.S. I'd like to bring KT off the bench, start Willis at PF, and Cato at C. We need to beef up a little up front for a while until we get back our strength(backcourt).

But I definitely think that line-up will be used, when Mobley comes back, for a large part of the game.

I think this is the starting lineup that gives us the best chance to win.

    PG-Mobley
    SG-Torres
    SF-KT
    PF-EG
    C-Cato

Best combination of size, reb and scoring....IMO

    I would rather see:

    Torres
    Mobley
    Rice
    Thomas
    Cato

Bring Mooch, Morris, Brown, Willis, Griffin off of the bench.
