krosfyah/clutchfans and the rowdies are going to the nov game @san antonio. you should email him to see if he has any extra tickets.
was in spicewood for camping this past weekend. nice stream and lagoon. went to san marcos to shop at eh outlets....wow.
I'm 36. I'll be a project manager for a fabrication facility that creates custom woodwork for commercial applications. On the side I make a fairly good sum doing audio work.
I'll check into it! Would be great to go, but if not I'll catch me a nose-bleed seat. My priorities at the moment are figuring out where to live and then getting my crap there by the time I'm supposed to start work (second week of November).
Ouch! haha... I have other reasons for thinking about that area. It's beautiful, the women are beautiful and it is closer to my daughter who lives outside of Canyon City. South Austin would work also. Buda has grown too much and Kyle is too small for me. The only debate, for me, is between South Austin and San Marcos. I love them both. Still leaning towards San Marcos as I only work in Austin about three to six times a month.
nope. it's a pretty cool place. They do all of the custom radius stuff for the Whole Foods stores as well as a lot of interesting jobs. The kickers were the following: They have a really nice 33,000 sf facility that is about to double in size (moving between Buda and Kyle) All of their processes are green in order to comply with Whole Foods - meaning renewable materials, environmentally friendly plywoods and glues, finishes, etc. (means a lot to me personally) Decent pay They told me their motto is "work smart, not hard" During the interview they specifically said "man, if you like to party or want to play gigs you can set your own hours. Come in at 11:00 if you want but put in your time". (I'll wait for a bit before testing) They didn't ask for a resume or references. I did send them 3D models and ACAD work of mine - which I admit are fairly impressive. Several of my friends think it is a government front to get me off of the streets. And I do admit the whole thing seems too good to be true. But the truth is also that I'm do for some good karma to come back around to me. I did send them references after they hired me but they didn't bother to check them out. Luckily for them I am who I say I am and they are getting a good creative person for their team. I'm pretty excited by the whole thing - especially as I make another grand or two a month doing audio work in Austin. Last Saturday I drove from The Woodlands to Austin to work with the Austin Symphony for one of their rehearsals. It will be nice to simply drive from San Marcos instead. bottom line, a seemingly perfect job basically fell in my lap at a time where I desperately need to move back to the area. I moved over here for six months and that turned into two and a half years. I would be taking over the company here except for one major detail. My daughter is having trouble with the drive physically and it isn't doing me a whole lot of good every other weekend either. This is truly a blessing. And I miss that Blanco River and 5 mile dam. That's enough information for now I'm sure. Keep the suggestions coming though. I'm still not sure whether to do San Marcos or South Austin. San Marcos has some advantages for me though... Cheers, Brock
I have an uncle who lives in Kyle, and I also attended SWT and lived in San Marcos. I'd have to agree with the people who said live in South Austin. If you where looking to buy, maybe Kyle or Buda, but if not, definitely stay in Austin.
This is offtopic a little bit but was just wondering for you san marcos guys....i'll be there for the next two weeks off and on for work. My first time there, was wondering if someone could give me some good spots to go out to meet aforementioned eye candy, or is my best bet just catching them in austin?
I graduated from there in the '90's. I have visited only a few times since I graduated, and it has changed a lot since I was looking for trouble there. I like San Marcos a lot though. A friend of mine just opened a gallery there. I think it is on the square or very close.
