They were loud and in full force. Props to them to showing up and showing the Rockets fans how easy it is to get off your hands, cheer and make noise. The good news is the Spurs fans helped keep the attendance at a somewhat respectable number. I hope our fans took note but I doubt it. I think it's going to be sickening how many "fans" cheer for Jordan our next home game. I bet we are out numbered 3 to 1 at least. Old School
I've said it for years(and was ridiculed for it) and I still say it, the majority of Houston fans suck. They have no passion. No heart. The are more worried about looking pretty than getting into the action. Once again, the proverbial question....how can we get people to go to the games??
The "fans" don't suck. They are the ones who actually show up and cheer. The "people" who show up only to support a winner are the ones who suck. I get tired of hearing how ticket prices are too high, blah, blah, blah. You know why? At the Rice/UH basketball game the other night they had just under 5,000 people show up. The ticket prices there are cheap yet people still didn't show up. They only support winners when it is "cool" to do so. Old School
me too, and I don't sit on my hands during games...I just need to go to more games, but it is a question of voodoo economics...
Spurs fans were not as obnoxious as usual. I have been ot other games whre they were terrible in Section 103.They show up, so I give them credit. As a fan - we have to go thru the good and bad- the game was fun last nite- we did not win, but gave Duncan and the Spurs a game-within one point in the 4th. People need to come out and see the Rockets take L.A. to overtime, and the Spurs to within one in the 4th. This is a good fun experience. The Rockets marketing guys need to sell this excitement, not with "Greg Brady Nite".
Spurs fans always cheer and yell loudly. Is that what constitutes being a good fan? 4 out of 10 Spurs fans at the game probably thought Tierre Brown was Steve Francis. Think I'm exagerating? In Francis' first appearance at the Alamodome there wasn't anyone within 10 seats in any direction that knew who he was. Some were even looking for Kenny Smith. I guess if the ability to blindly propel air out of your lungs makes one a "good fan" they certainly have plenty of fans. Look no further than their broadcasters.
On TV the Compaq Center sounds almost dead. Houston fans should turn out more for the Rocket. Hopefully when we get a new arena they'll start filling up the arena.
Hey yeah...and thanks to the spurs for sending their sound guy down to plug a hole for us too. Did anyone notice this at the game? At one particular point...they were playing the computerized defense chant WHEN THE SPURS WERE ON DEFENSE! Now if that isnt bad enough...this not only got the Spurs fans (which were everywhere) chanting...but the quiet "fans" of the home team were also chanting IN SUPPORT OF THE SPURS! I think I was the only one in the whole section who noticed this...but I was probably also the only one paying attention to the freaking game. Houston fans are by and large a pitiful bunch. *Present company excluded of course*
