Yeah I woke up with one couple days ago... and I really can't afford to be sick right now!

Anyway after some quick googling, I found gargling warm salt water and taking in plenty of vitamin C in forms of Vitamin C pills or fruits/juices.. It definitely helps. Also eating well and getting enough rest. You should avoid cold drinks and try buying some warm soup. I also took these lozenges called "Cold Eeze" and it really works. I think its better than Halls because this has zinc (which is supposed to help sore throats). The taste is not bad either. It is a bit expensive but I think its well worth it. I feel I'm all better now and its only been two days. *crosses fingers*. Now if ONLY I could fall asleep...

First gargle with salt water... as hot as you can stand it with as much salt as you can stir into it... rinse with warm water

    Then

Warm up some Dr. Pepper... put into a coffee mug and heat in the microwave for 30 - 45 seconds... will kill most of the fizz, but man it's good for the throat.

    Trust me.

    It will work.

If coughing is the cause, try a few ounces of dark chocolate. Active ingredient Theobromine, I've found it helps the itchy feeling that makes me cough.

My mother always gargles with vinegar; the strong, white kind. She swears that it will get rid of any sore throat (mainly because it just kills everything in there!).

I tried it once but it caused me to gag. I must admit, though, it did seem to work.

Any of the gargling recommendations are not just a one-time thing; they should be repeated periodically. I'd never heard of some of these solutions... hope I don't need to try them. I've always used the warm salt water gargle.

It may be nasty but it definitely works.

Boil 2 cups of water and add a whole sliced lemon and half an onion. Boil for 5-7 minutes after adding these ingredients. Pour water only into a cup and add 2 tablespoons of honey, stir. Drink.

Single Malt Scotch...at least two shots. Follow that with a teaspoon of honey mixed with lemon juice.

One more for Cold Eeze, they seem to help fight off a cold in general. Best to take them at the first sign that one is coming.

Word.. I'm sucking on one right now.

The trick is to suck it all the way through. Don't bite or chew on it.
