http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2007/10/pages_ripped_fr.html http://blogs.chron.com/gamedaytexans/2007/10/andre_johnson_better_but_still.html He's now missed 4 games and does not appear to be remotely close to game shape. How long does he stay out? The coaching staff might opt to play it safe and hold him out until after the bye rather than send him out on the road in California and risk him aggravating the strain. Not good news - with this, our poor O-line play, and increasingly obvious problem spots on D, our chances at 8-8 may be in serious jeopardy. Evan
The past few weeks we've been hearing how Peyton never leads his receivers into trouble with his passes. Does Schaub get any of the blame for leading Dre into the hit that injured him and has him out for what seems like indefinitely?
IMO, they need to wait until the Saints game (week 11 after the bye) The Texans need to go 2-1 and be 5-4 going into that game. 5-2 after the bye to finish 10-6
pretty optimistic, but I cant blame you for being a homer. Hope andre gets better because I do enjoy watching him play
This isn't true. Harrison has taken some pretty bad hits a few times the last several years. I want to say the play he got hurt on this year was one of those, but I'm not sure (it might have been another play during that game). QB's have to throw to open receivers - sometimes those receivers are going to be vulnerable. That's unfortunate, but I don't think you can expect a QB to always avoid that. Certainly some do it more than others, though. I don't really know if Schaub does it more or less than most QB's.
Dunta said that Harrison doesnt give players a chance to hit him. He catches, tucks and goes down. to obvious hits and fumbles. but i do recall that play, it was one of those useless low yardage passes right in between the primary and secondary defense, no mans land.
I was saying what they need to do I think it can happen since vs Tenn and Oakland should be wins and we will say at San Diego is a loss after the bye all four home games we should have a great chance of winning and of the three road games only at Indy seems like a sure thing loss
I don't think you can blame the QB for this, unless it was carr I don't like the way this injury is unfolding, I'm starting to think it is worse than being let on. Hopefully not, but I'm beginning to have my doubts about AJ's season.
I'm pretty sure that on that play, even if it was a pass he had to go up for, he caught it, came down, turned upfield, then got hit and hurt. If he had gotten hit and hurt in the air because of high throw, then yes. But I'm pretty sure that's not what happened.
I remember hearing that about Peyton, but I can't remember where I heard it. When I did hear it I immediately thought of that pass Schaub threw to Andre. I don't have anything against Schaub and I'm not saying he's a bad QB or anything. It's just that the more time Andre spends on the sidelines the more frustrating it gets, and the more I need to find a scapegoat to wale on.
If we were talking about the healthy Texans team that played weeks 1 and 2, I'd be similarly optimistic. But this McKinney/Johnson-less squad barely got past 0-for-everything Miami at HOME, give Atlanta their only win, and provided almost HALF of Maurice Jones Drew's rushing yards for the SEASON. We are NOT in good shape. I can't picture 9 wins, let alone 10. I think we go to the bye 4-5. I worry that we're going to get pasted by New Orleans (nightmare scenario). I capped MANY words in this post. Evan
The biggest problem is not Schaub throwing the ball an leading Andre into a hit, but if the Texans had a FREAKIN run game you would not be throwing the ball in the forth quarter to try and insure a win!!!!!
Sad part is, we DID have the running game going that game, until Ahman cramped up in the second half.
Crap, that's not right either. Dayne was actually not sucking that game. So why the hell were we throwing over the middle at that point? (rhetorical question, don't anyone answer that)
I would rather them be catious than send him out there before he is 100%. You are talking about a franchise reciever not to mention one of the top 5 wr's in football. Lets be catious I dont want him to have something bad happen and be out the rest of the year.
Yep. His injury is unfortunate since him and Schaub were on such a tear. It's also too bad that we didn't capitalize on easy games like the Falcons and Jags (even though the Jags are better than advertised). With the Titans and Oakland coming up, the entire team (including the coaches) really need to focus on getting these wins.
I vaguely remembered what play that was, so I had to refresh my memory. It's at around the 0:50 mark. Ouch! http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d8030f05b Eisen does comment that it's rare that Manning does that to his receivers, so I guess Schaub is allowed one every once in a while. Sucks that the one time he did it had to be oh so costly.
