First of all, I want to apologize for posting here. Yes, I know this belongs in anohter forum but I am afraid I won't get a reply on time.

I have been suddenly called up to go to Houston on Friday for the first time in four years. The last game I saw was in 1996
against the Lakers (Magic's last game!).

I will be staying for a week...how can I get my hands on tickets? Are they still available? Back in the day it was pretty damn hard but I've heard that we have not had too many sellouts this season.

    Could you guys help?

Either call TicketMaster or look on their website. There are plenty of tickets there. The seats they have are pretty good - it seems like everyone around me always has TicketMaster tickets. I miss the old days when it was all season ticket holders....I knew everyone's name and we had get-togethers. Oh my, I think I'm getting a tad bit teary-eyed....

Seats are available and scalping is easy because of it. offer 50% face and walk away to the next guy saying you are just going to get cheapest available at the ticket window and move to a good seat.

A friend of mine paid $15 for a $44 easy pickings.

Note: if you want to go to the Lakers game on Sunday, you should buy it now over the phone. It might be sold out.

    good luck

oh...another way to get Lakers tickets is go to the Houstonian or another 5 star hotel and ask the head concierge. They usually have the best games. The Lakers is on Super Bowl Sunday so they might not sell-out of the pro scalpers right away.

ps: make it look like you are a guest of the hotel. They usually had a service fee as well.

    Jenna,

Somehow I knew you would be the first to post [IMG] Thanks a lot...I already printed out the info from the NBA.com site.

    heypartner-
Thanks to you as well. I'll look into it...sounds interesting.

Do you guys know where I can get Rockets stuff cheap? There's a Rockets shop but I think they might have their prices a bit too high for my taste. Maybe a popular sports shop?
Are there any new stores I should know about, BTW? Haven't been in Houston in a looong time....I'm looking forward to it, as you can tell.

    Ace,

As a season ticket holder, I have a 10% discount card for the Rockets Shop. I won't be using this so we might be able to work something out.

It looks like my buddy for the Iverson game is going to have to bag. Feb 3. If you want to go at face value and buy me beers, I'll go with you to the Rocket Shop and give you my 10%. (Officially, my discount card must be used by me, so giving it to you probably won't work.)

btw: this offer stands for anyone who has backed my comments on the BBS. hehe.

But you must be ready to get fanatical.

Iverson vs Francis Thursday. I'm upper level be great view of the whole court. Plus, moving down at halftime is easy. I'm going to cross-post this probably Monday.

    heypartner...

You aren't that guy that moved down and sat behind me early in the 4th screaming "You suck (referee)46," are you? I really want to find that guy and remove his brain with a spoon....

You want to know what's sad about the Rockets Shop? Everyone in there seems to know me. I'll walk in and they'll be telling me what I was wearing the game before. I swear, I've never actually seen these people at Compaq Center, but they know my exact seat location and favorite arena food. It's totally freaky, but sometimes they'll throw stuff into my bag....

    jenna,

I have no idea where you sit. You sound like a roady to me, fortunate enough to know the right people, and willing to brag about it. I'm fully invested in this team and the entertainment value. The sits you generally talk about are for show and offer no court view for analyizing game strategies. I would never sit as low as you.

Whenever I move down to the vacant seats, I'm cracking it up with those around me. I go no further than rim level. If you sat next to me, you would have enjoyed it, and probably learned more about basketball than just knowing who is sitting next to you.

    heypartner....

Gee, I'm truly happy that you don't sit around me - luckily I sit next to a gentleman. Just so you know, I sit on row R in my section - it's a rare day when I sit anywhere near the court for a Rockets game. Oh, and by the way, I can break down both the defense and offense - while it is occurring - from row R and sometimes from "down low." As for me being a "roady," I don't know where you get that really. Do I go to road games? Yes, I have been since I was about 7 years old now, going to see the same team every time so I can watch a family friend. That does not qualify me as a "roady."

As for whether or not I would have enjoyed it if you were sitting by me, my guess is I would have gotten up and moved myself. My guess is you're one of those people that pays attention to Clutch (the bear) and his little antics just a little too much. That part about me learning basketball from you, there is zero chance of that. My guess is you don't have 50+ years of NBA history, the entire existance of the ABA, and probably about 90% of the Official Rules of the NBA embedded into your brain.

heypartner, you really have no clue when it comes to me. Don't act like you do.

Why the hostility between Heypartner and jenna?

Personally, I think they're both astute [IMG]

    haven....

Good question. I made a joke and all of a sudden I'm being personally attacked for everything from my lifestyle to my knowledge of basketball. Makes no sense....

    heypartner,
Where did you get your 10% discount for the Rockets shop? I'm a season ticket holder and I don't have one!!! You should also try sitting closer to the court sometime - its quite interesting hearing what they say to each other, and the expressions on their faces.

    Jenna
I think heypartners comment came off the wrong way. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think he was taking a shot at you. The "Roady" he was referring to is probably like the "Roady" for rock bands - people that travel with the band and set up the stage & equipment etc.

Take the Feb 3 tickets - you get to see Iverson and Clyde's Jersey retired. Should be a big night.
