kobe has to want to play here. has he even make any indication he wants to play in houston? NO. he has the no-trade clause so he has the right to OK any trade.

kobe won't stay in LA though (at least we know for his career). this year most likely since he won't opt out until 2 yrs from now.

Again, I meant he would stay for this year. That's also pretty sure he would probably want a trade next year if Lakers didn't win anythin

but the dislike/hatred b/t the lakers organization and kobe right now is HUGE. i can't see them stomach one another for one whole year. i think buss is doing this so he can ante up the trade pieces from other teams, unlike what he did w/ shaq. he failed to do that w/ shaq and didn't get the most out of shaq. now he's doing the opposite with kobe so he can get more.

Agree with you. The situation between Kobe and organization is very tough and the problem is huge. It would be really interestin to see how they'll live together. I think Buss made a little mistake

The longer they drag out the situation, the less the Lakers are able to get IMO. With 1 yr left before the opt out next summer, teams might be willing to wait until the following summer so that they don't have to gut their teams to get Kobe. Don't forget, Kobe has the infamous no trade clause, so it doesn't matter how enticing the offer looks next year if Kobe feels like he gets traded to a hopeless situation, he can veto the trade.

i didn't read all the posts in this tread, so if this has been discussed already, sorry. but, how about yao for tmac? not saying that i would do the trade... but if you were the rox gm and the lakers offered up kobe and chris mihm for yao and some of our excess bubble players (reed, snyder, etc)... would you consider it?

it would give us a line up of...

    pg alston/james/brooks
    sg kobe/wells/stevie
    sf tmac/battier/harris
    pf hayes/scola/novak
    c mihm/deke

we could go small with hayes playing center and scola starting at pf.

i love yao and would throw up in my mouth if we made that trade... but it is an interesting possibility. thoughts?

First of all Kobe for Yao

And yes he wave already discused about that.

Well for me it works but it cannot happen. Lakers with Yao wouldn't even enter the playoffs. Yao's good, best center in the NBA, but I'm sure he wouldn't carry the Lakers alone even to nba playoffs. And that trade generally does not make sense for LA...I think

Remember Andrew Bynum......If the Lakers really are seeking to rebuilt on Bynum they won't be looking forward to an all-star C ;)

    KOBE= 3 championships
TMAC= great team player blah blah blah and 0 playoff victories

this is a no brainer...i love tmac just as much as the next guy but if we could get kobe, morey will for sure try everything he can to get him as long as it doesnt include yao...kobe and yao would be as dominant as kobe and shaq...

all that said...this aint going to happen....

That's too early for Bynum. He's only 19 years old

Shaq didn't win another championship himself. He had a guy named Wade.

Shaq never won or led a team by himself. He always had another superstar next to him. Penny Hardaway in Orlando. Kobe in LA. and Wade in Miami.

LOL At Mike & Mike in the AM......

They made a point that they would basically trade any top player in the league for Kobe. They went down the list of top scorers in the NBA last year one-by-one and all agreed they would deal those players straight up for Kobe.

They blew threw Yao and T-Mac and guess who made them think twice: Chris Bosh. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

This thread needs to die. If the lakers give us Kobe for Tmac and a Battier or something, they are essentially handing us a championship. Buss and Mitch are stupid, but not that stupid. They know they messed up bad with the Shaq situation, and they aren't giving us Kobe unless they gut our team, or force us to give them Yao, which definitely isn't happening.

and how would u know that? kobe has a no-trade clause and he has not even mentioned houston as a potential destination. kobe has chosen places where he knew he can win a ring and obviously playing with yao is not part of his plans.

he wants to play with dirk, nash/amare, or play in the easy east.

so apparently he does not think highly of houston.

    Putting my 2 cents in:

As the majority of this board probably agrees that Yao is almost untouchable in any trade deals, I would bet they would consider Kobe + Bynum and 1st rounder for Yao. I think Yao would be 1 in 3 players in the league where it's Kobe and filler. I'm sure Rox would trade TMAC and anyone else not named Yao to get Kobe. But if it's Yao going, then Houston would have the upper hand and they can basically pick and choose Kobe and anyone else on their squad. I could see a Kobe+Bynum+next year's 1st rounder for Yao. I think it would be a win-win for both clubs. And I think Yao would be great with Phil Jackson and the Triangle offense and having Odom and Kwame as the PF the frontcourt. Kwame is deficient at center but a PF, he can be imposing. While a Kobe + TMAC team would be a good tandem also.

If Kobe leave laker, there is zero possiblity that Bynum will go together. Bynum is untouchable in laker for potential and political fight that Buss hand the reign to his son.
