It's nice that he finally gets a gig at ESPN. Maybe after his contract his done he can take a little pay cut and come replace Clyde. Or maybe ESPN will buy him out and he can come back to Houston like Francis did
Congrats to Jeff. He has a great mind for basketball so I imagine at least he will be better then clyde. Fierguard
I'd rather see him on America's funniest video. or maybe Ripley's Believe it or not. At least it's a job he can mess up too bad.
Ignorant much? JVG already said he wants to stay in Houston, hence no coaching job elsewhere. EDIT: Geez. Glad someone else said it before me.
Good, love his dry humor like when he was talking about how half-court shots should tie the game. Not to mention he tells it like it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ukde193ivM
yeah because he's such a freaking buffoon who can't keep his feet straight.... Great move by ESPN, JVG is a great commentator and the more games he announces the better
I wonder if he'll be happier calling games than coaching them. I never really saw the guy happy as our coach, even after big wins. He has very high standards, and his performance never quite lived up to them, which must have eaten him all the time. As a commentator, he can relax and let somebody else bear that burden.
I think he loves coaching more, but like you said...he has really high standards so it frustrates him. He does commentary for a year or two and he is always tempted to coach again. I think he finds coaching more attractive and alluring. Sort of like a masochism. He likes the pain it brings him
. i wouldnt be surprised for him to come back in a couple years either. Coaching is in his blood and he will always get offers. i cant remember how old his kids are, but that could be an important factor as well,
If you get tagged with a $100k fine with a team, you will be associated with them forever. About the other random comments from everyone on JVGs coaching abilities: I think he is in the 75th to 80th percentile among current NBA coaches, and would probably be the best assistant coach imaginable if he ever chose to do so again.
