Francis will end up starting, if not, get major minutes off the bench. You guys will see. rofflesarus is just making a Francis hate thread is disguise.

as a Rockets fan (and then by default a SF3 fan) I'd really love to see him play a decent amount of minutes, as a few of you have expressed. I just think it would be a cool story, if he turned out to be our 3rd option and was our 'answer' to our PG problems.

I just don't see that being the case though.

In fact, the only reason I'm not completely convinced we didn't get him purely for ticket sales is because at the time, I think we all thought Rafer was a goner, which would definitely have given Francis PT.

It's a problem that needs to be solved, but at least we have options. Even if RA doesn't make the choice you wanted, it's still lightyears better than Rafer/Head/VSpan(lol).

i'm just being realistic. you should too because if you think francis will be a major contributor then you may be severely dissapointed. francis won't start. rafer and mike james will start before francis.

I think what will happen is Bonzi will end up playing alot of the 4 position (with Scola starting) especially late in the game. This will mean that Tmac/Battier/Francis share the 2 and 3 positions rotating thru. James and Alston will share the 1 position.

I think our crunch time line up will be

Yao
Bonzi
T-mac
Francis
Alston

I seriously hate you, Francis is puttin asses in the seats. Trust me he's going to get alot PT. Rafer has been playing good, but its only 2 games. Lets see what Rafer and MJ can do against an elite pg in the league. We know Francis can hold his own vs the best of them.

How do we know Francis can hold his own vs the best of them? i don't think theres any question that Mike James is our best defending guard. What exactly has Francis proven? He's only been to one playoff series and won one game. Mike James has a ring i'd say he's proven himself ;)

It seems greater! The problem is how to split time to 11 man.
Adelman definitely said he will solidifies 8-9 man rotation poll

MJ was on a very good team which frankly woulda won without him. Francis has NEVER been on a very good team. When steve was in houston he played hard and he became an all-star. It takes a man to come back to a team that traded him, and play third or fifth to the guy he was traded for. Atleast give him that much.

All your statement is based on 2 preseason games? SF3 didnt get many mins because he wants to "give more chance to young players".

Even with Head gone, there wont be enough minutes because there will be 9 men with Steve, and usually teams go with an 8 man rotation.

Steve will have to outplay Rafer or Mike James, otherwise I dont see him getting many minutes. Unless you think 15 minutes is a lot of minutes.

i dont see francis being very effective unless he gets at least 25 minutes a game.

the one thing francis has that many on the rockets havent proven is that he turns his game up in the playoffs. if i recall correctly, he got a triple double his first game, almost did it again his 2nd game, and won the 3rd game for us. sure he made his t.o.'s but he stepped up unlike most of the rockets. Tmac has stepped up his game in such a manner and yao has only shown minimal signs of such (Look for him to explode this year ... if not, then I'll be very worried/disappointed).

I'm just making observations ... because from what I've seen, Rafer doesn't step up his game enough offensively, and mike ... I'm not sure. I remember small glimpses of what he did during that Mavs series but I'm not sure.

But speaking as of today, it definitely seems like MJ and Skip have the edge over Francis, with Skip starting and MJ backing him up and playing the 2.

RA asked SF3 if he wanted play more mins and SF3 said that. He is pretty confident about his role in this team. Why do so many people want to paint him as last year's Banzi Wells?
