I usually pick up Slam every now and then. It comes with a "Dunk of the Month" poster which is pretty sweet if you're a collector. It also keeps up with some college and h.s. players. A really nice section at the end that previews all the new bball shoes coming out.

i subscribe to slam because they focus on all of basketball not just the nba...but it is obviously very nba heavy. the usually always have an article on a retired player which is great (had a great hakeem one in the last year) there are some good features in the magazine which i like.

heck even our own mike james has a monthly q&a in it!

i used to read slam too, and it was because of a hakeem olajuwon article a few years back when he was still playing. i continued until a few years before calling it quits.

any interesting tidbits from that new hakeem article you mentioned?

I had a subscription to slam for about 3 years. I stopped getting it about 5 years ago because I didn't really like the "bling bling"/hyping up high schoolers kind of thing. But Dime is FAR worse. I really honestly don't care to read an article about Marcus Williams spending 100K at a jewelry store, what he bought, etc. SLAM wasn't too bad, once I think about it. I may subscribe again. At least it's cheap.

I always loved the little blurbs at the bottom of the letters to the editor page. Also, the SLAM-up. I had so many posters plastering my walls. Ah, those were the days.

    A) Me too (thanks, by the way)
    2) WORD!

Dime is about a fair price.

It's shot like GQ. I really want to see how foxy Oden is up close and from 9 different angles in 6 various outfits & lighting? No b!tch, this is basketball!

Slam's fine every once in awhile.
