that is awesome im so happy for rafer. everyone had written him off yet he comes to training camp, wipes the floor and wins the starting job.
Rafer could be the" perfect fit" Last season,FVG's rockets depend so much offense on the super starers, this is the reason that Head and Rafer lost themselfe in the offense end.
IF one of our guards still gets traded, Rafer is still the top choice. Both SF3 and Mike James just got here so they won't go anywhere at least until the trade deadline. Honestly, 2 preseason games is not enough for me to see that Rafer is finally the real deal. He had a great preseason last year and we all know how his season turned out. I think if we do make a trade, we should wait until some time after the season starts so we know who is really going to perform well. Until then, I'm guessing Luther Head will see the least time.
Last year? 37.5% shooting, 36.3% from three-point range (6.5 threes per), 2.6 assist-turnover ratio and 1.6 steals in 37.1 minutes. Last year in the playoffs? 33.8% shooting, 32% from three-point range (7.1 threes per), 2.0 assist-turnover ratio and 1.9 steals in 44.1 minutes. Two games in the preseason? 69.2% shooting, 71.4% shooting from three-point range (3.5 threes per), 10.0 assist-turnover ratio and 3 steals in just 28 minutes. Who could argue with "so far", but I think those two words are fairly key.
Umm did you forget about T-Mac and Yao? Both of them are our best clutch players. Yao @ the Wizards last season without T-Mac was out was pure clutch. Also, Steve Francis is also a clutch player. He won many games for us as a Rocket and had a few buzzer beaters with Orlando and New York.
I tend to agree, but at least now when Rafer's shot isn't falling in a particular game, we'll have plenty of capable players to take over for him. There were times last year (albeit, they were few and far between) where he looked amazing. But when his shot wasn't dropping, we didn't have anybody to come in. Now we do. I think Rafer is more than capable of being the starting point guard for a championship team - just not one that can play the full 48 minutes
Rafer always plays well in the preseason, then sucks monkey nutz during the regular season. I say, trade him to Cleveland (get a 3rd team involved).
Do you think if his minutes are kept between 24-28 that he can keep the %'s higher? I just have to wonder if all the minutes he averaged last year didn't take his legs out from under him. You have made valid arguments about Rafer but I wonder if the mpg he will get this year will improve his stats somewhat.
I'm disappointed that Rafer is playing so well. I'am a huge Steve and Mj fan, but they're both rhythm players, and Rafer has flat out outplayed them. He doesn't need shots are feel the ball as much as Steve and Mj he is definately more of a team guy.
i can't believe you are dissapointed because a player is playing well. do you honestly call yourself a fan?
Rafer should stay and start. I don't think Francis and James should get too many minutes with Tmac and Yao because they will take away shots from yao and tmac. They will be good off the bench along with bonzi. Also we will probably see alot of 2 PG line ups this year.
Rafer does a fine job as a PG --- bringing up the ball, passing and setting up, but he is not good when he shoots. Since we have so many more offensive weapons now, he is not going to shoot that much. So I think he is a better fit than before.
WOW. Once again...Rafer is a life LONG .380 shooter. Rafer has only broke over .400 twice in his career. .414 and .415. Lets say that again...a lifelong .380 shooter. He is NOT going to become a better shooter this season suddenly. Get it through your skulls. He sucks.
