If we must trade one guard, I must say let's trade Francis, although it's highly not likely. But we can keep all of them, It's a good trouble to have. I'd rather trade or cut snyder/Landry/Reed/Butler to trim down the roster.

ok, for argument's sake we'll say we have no Rafer the last two years and instead we have Mike James playing 37 minutes a game. Still no 4 with offense. I'm sorry, but I simply don't see how this would have cured our ills.

I have, from day one, said that Rafer is not the ONLY solution at point guard but the best solution we had. Trading that for the only solution in the form of Mike James doesn't cure much in my opinion. Replace Mike James with Rafer Alston - 3pt. percentage goes up. Ball handling goes down. Post passing takes a slide. Ball movement takes a backseat.

Having them both at this point and getting rid of Howard's contract is the end result of these trades. I don't see how having MJ run the point with no backup is any better than having Rafer run the point without a viable backup. You don't agree.

Nothing wrong with that. The problem I have is when the MJ lovers/Rafer haters think that having MJ instead of Rafer wins us a championship the last two years. Our troubles were deeper than Skip.

    Cheers,
    Brock

Butler isn't going anywhere. We need him. The only way we trade him is if we somehow put a package together that lands us a backup center and I just don't see that happening.

just keep all 3 of them. All of them brings a different tempo to the game, with not 1 who is much better than the other or 1 that is much worse. So i say keep them unless a trade for a much better player needs them as trait bait.

As SF3 and MJ must be kept, we have to trade Head.

Right now do not trade anyone. Keep MJ, RA and SF. We have a lot of time to move them. First of all we have to see how will they play.

I think between Deke, Scola, and Hayes they can handle all the minutes Yao leaves behind.

How long did you think about this before you decided to make this thread?

You forget that only two years ago Francis was a perennial All-Star. From what I see in the pre-season he still has that ability. Yes, James and Brooks can get to the basket just as well as Francis, but they cannot explode to the rim or outjump 7-footers to get rebounds like he can. Steve is an athletic freak, and with all of the offensive problems we had last season in the playoffs he can become a great third scorer for this team, especially when we need a basket in crunch time.

With that said Rafer has looked great this season and no one on the team pushes the ball better or finds teammates better with the exception of TMac. With all of the scoring talent, he will not be looked upon to score as much...he doesn't even have to finish a lot of the games with SF and MJ available. This offense under Adelman is much better suited to his And1 style of game that I feel we would be missing out if we traded him too early. We have until February to see what he can bring to the table this season. He can fill the role a-la Kenny Smith when he would start and Sam Cassell would come off the bench to finish games.

I cringe whenever Head puts the ball on the floor, because he is a turnover waiting to happen. I think he should be traded also.

okay, but you do realize he's our best shooter right? I agree he cant dribble and he cant pass the ball, but as long as he can shoot as well as he does, then he can stay on the team. The guy gets so many wide open shots, he's too valuable to give up in a trade, unless you're getting another shooter in return.

Rafer alston freaking blows and shouldn't even be on the rockets and the only reason he is, is cause no one would trade for his sorry ass.
