I'm hoping that Jacksonville destroys Tennesee today. I know alot of Houstonions still regard the Titans fondly, but Bud Adams doesn't deserve a Superbowl ring. Ok... so this topic doesn't have toooo much to do w/the Rockets. I just hope that I'm routing fot the HOUSTON Rockets in 5 years.
HOUSTON OILERS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why the hatred for an owner? Who the hell gives a damn. I love the players, coaches, and GM. Floyd Reese, Bruce Mathews, Mike Munchak, Steve Jackson, Marcus Robertson, Blaine Bishop and all of those fellows deserve this. I love Steve and Eddie of course. Bud Adams was not a horrible owner. He was never a good public relations guy but he always spent as much money as possible to put the best players on the field. He was a little frugal about the scout team and what not, but he always went after the best players. Hell, this is the best feeling I had in a long time. Good luck to the Oilers, Titans and everyone associated with them in the Super Bowl.
Houston Oilers? Umm no They were but not any more. If they win the super bowl they have won it for Tennessee not for Houston. So why be happy, i hate the titans.
Hey, we got what we wanted - Bud out of town and a new team. Now we have to face the consequences (sp) which are bittersweet. Did anyone notice how Bud kept on mentioning how good the fans are in Nashville? Maybe I shouldn't expect any acknowledgement of us here in Houston, but you can't erase all those years.
I think that in a few years, when the Nashville Titans slump, the Tennessee fans won't appear any more faithful than the Houston fans.
i bet when they slump they'll have more faces in the stadium then we did when the oilers were rebuilding. houston blew it to keep the oilers or titans.
I am SO proud of the Titans. Bud Adams was run out of town by Bob Lanier. The City of Houston let the Oilers go, and it is going to cost them 3 times the money to get the new franchise up and running, and with what? A NEW STADIUM !!! I am pissed that Lanier let this team get away, this should be a proud moment in Houston sports history, but instead Houston is going to have to go through the growing pains of an expansion team Bud Adams NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE..EVER !! It was a business decision, HELL !!! He even offered to pay $75 million to help finance a new stadium. Short sightedness, and a huge pissing contest with Crooked Lanier ran them out. I am off to Vegas to watch the Super Bowl, and I will be wearing some Titans gear, and a Houston OILER HAT !!! GO TITANS !! DaDakota PS Did the city learn its' lesson? Not by the way the Rockets vote went. What was that quote about history and repeating? [This message has been edited by DaDakota (edited January 23, 2000).]
Francis3, But the players are in Vegas baby !! No place better to watch the big show, and I will be at a party hosted by Drew Carey and "whose line is it anyway." Vegas baby !! VEGAS !!! Not to mention, I will be laying loads of cash on Bud Adam's boys. DaDakota
At the beginning of the year Vegas had the odds for the Titans to win the Superbowl at 200-1. A 1,000 dollar bet would win you 200,000 dollars possibly. WOW! Only if I would of know then what I know now. Does anybody know how to time travel.
Da Man, DaDakota, Smokey, Wizard.....I'm right there with ya. I can't believe the OILERS are in the Super Bowl.....almost brought tears to my eyes. Houston had the Oilers the greatest football team Then along came Bob Lanier and now we can only dream
Houston had the Oilers But they never won Adams was the owner Held us under his thumb Now they are the Titans And living in Tennessee Coulda, shoulda, woulda-beens Is all they'll ever be ------------------------------- Wow, that was harder than I thought. I am glad for the players, but I still hope they lose in the superbowl.
Sorry, but if you'll would like to view the trophy after the super Bowl, It will be on display in St. Louis!!
This is Baskeball not footnball.... I will say though that as an Oiler Fan and as a former Oiler season ticket holder that I am happy to see the Titans/Oilers in the Super Bowl. It was good to see ESPN acknowledge the Titans as the 40 year old franchise and former Houston Oilers. The Titans/Oilers look like a team of destiny. However, the Rams look good too. This will be a very good Superbowl regardless. PEOPLE PLEASE DONT BE PLAYA HATERS!! Just because they are the Tennessee Titans, these are still the same Oilers and same personnell running the team. It's sad because I knew when they left Houston that they were going to be in Superbowl. They had a great team in the making and a really good coach. I even told my friends the day they left, "With our luck they'll be in the Superbowl when they get their new stadium" Sure enough, here we are. I just hope that the Rockets Stay in town!! Back to BASKETBALL FOLKS...THE ROCKETS ARE RED HOT!!!
