Wow, well if the Rockets hope to make the playoffs, a current team who holds a playoff spot must relenquish it. By the way things look, I don't think that Minnesota will be doing any forefeiting of their playoff spot. Minnesota is playing pretty well.

Phoenix is the team I think that the Rockets can likley beat out of the playoffs. Phoenix looks good at times, but too often they look very mediocre. Granted Kidd is an awsome player, his shooting is definatley a huge liability. Moving Hardaway was the best move that the Magic ever made, a huge disappointment.

That's my pick, the Rockets replace Phoenix in the '00 playoff picture. Where they go only they know!!!!!!!!

    I agree,

The Suns are my pick to choke out.

They suck in the playoffs, anyway.

I agree that the Suns have a weak team, but they have also been playing with out penny...when you have a Jason Kidd,Penny Hardaway, and Cliff Robinson...that team sounds destined to atlest pull a 8th spot...thats why I predict that Minnesota will be the team to flop. here is my mock standings for the end of the year.

    1.Portland
    2.Utah
    3.Lakers
    4.San Antonio
    5.Seattle
    6.Kings
    7.Pheonix
    8.Houston
    ----------------
    9.Minnesota

The Big ? here is ofcourse that 8th spot...If we could grab that spot and Portland take over the number 1 seed, then we would be in a great position...of all of the Western playoff teams, no matter at what seed I think we play best against the Blazers.

I want the Rox to be in the playoffs as much as anyone, and we are playing great. However, I think we might have dug ourselves too deep a hole. We are 8 games behind Minnesota and 9 games behind Phoenix.

That might be asking too much considering we are going down the homestretch now. That would involve continued awesome play on our parts and one of these two teams would have to choke - BAD!

I think seattle is a chance to self destruct, even though we 11 or 12 games behind. Last night was case in point. With GP getting ejected.

I have to agree with you guy's about Seattle. Seattle is not complete. They lack a decent center. And their offense consits of GARY GARY GARY with the last name payton.

The Rockets are currently 7 games back of Minnesota, 8 back of Phoenix, and 8 1/2 behind Seattle.

Make no mistake, if the Rockets get to a 45 win mark, they are in the playoffs.

The weak team will come down.

But, if the Rockets can take care of business with Minnesota, they will only be 6 games back of Minnesotta. Six games is VERY much within reach with around 44 games remaining.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I do not see the Rockets getting to the playoffs. 8 games is an awefully lot to make up.

So there is three teams that the Rockets could knock out of the playoffs, Minnesota, Phoenix, or Seattle. I'll be looking at the boxscores hoping these teams are on the losing end more often than not. Also Minnesota plays San Antonio after us so it's a perfect opportunity to pick up not just one game, but two games on Minnesota.

My fearless perdiction is that the Rockets winning streak will end at 14.

Man, a fourteen game win streak ? That would be rediculous. I'll take it. I just don't think we can make up 8 games from the half way point. Tonights game against the Timberpups is critical for even a hint of day light. Geez, who the heck thought we could even have this conversation two weeks ago ?

    a little off the subject...

has anyone noticed how the Rockets have jumped from about the 25 spot on most 'Power Rankings' to around 18? It's like everyone was waiting for them to make their run. I agree that we may be in too deep to make the playoffs, but Rudy T's got them playing hard enough to make us talk about it.

Seattle would my choice for the choke job. At the start of the season I thought they at best would a .500 team, with a shot at the 8th playoff spot

I don't think their coach is all that great and outside of Gary their players are no great shakes. Without Payton, the Sonics would be lucky to beat the Warriors and Maverisks of the NBA.

If they keep winning though, I will have to change my opinion of Paul Westphal. (D*mn, I hate when that happen [IMG])
