honestly, a trade for t-mac + filler for kobe would be terrific for the rockets. yao for kobe would not be such a good deal.
Honestly, I don't know why it doesn't get mentioned that much as a legitimate option. I like Tmac, and I dislike Kobe as a person, but he's just a better player. He's less of an injury risk, he's proven in pressure situations, he takes it to the basket more, and he has played with a big man in the past. Kobe can be had for the right price, and a player like Tmac is as close as the lakers will get to fair value for him. Kobe would welcome playing with Yao after several seasons of Kwame Brown. I view a trade as a legitimate option, but the front office hasn't pursued it, probably because any whispers of trade talks would piss off/hurt Tmac.
If the laker were willing to trade kobe for like t-mac, luther, shane, and butler I think we would have to do it, tmac has a history with back problems and may not be able to play at his current level for much longer, it's a no brainer.
PO!? i didnt mean regular season, tmac in the series with dallas was the best on the planet easily. And remember that kobe aint god **** on this ****ty team and tmac had/has yao and some other guys to share ball with
if we could somehow keep tmac and yao and get kobe...then hell yes.. otherwise NO i would take tmac over kobe anytime
Trade Tmac to Seattle for their 08,10,12 1st pick (those will probably be lottery picks too) Trade Yao for Oden (The Blazers will bite because of Oden's cloudy health issues) Trade Francis, Battier, Bonzi, MJ, Scola to whatever takers we can find. The master plan of all these moves is to tank for O.J. Mayo in 2008. Seriously, I hope Clutch will consider to add a 0 star option to rate this thread.
Since the Shaq trade, the Lakers haven't won a playoff series. First, in 2005 they compiled a 34-48 record and missed the playoffs by at least 11 games (I forgot who would have had the tiebreaker between the Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies that year). Then the next two seasons (which are now the last two), they were in as the 7th seed, but were knocked off by the Phoenix Suns in both of those playoff series.
This is valid for discussion because of the article. When the Owner of the Lakers says he is open to trading Kobe, it's a valid topic for discussion. If I were the Rockets, I'd make this trade NOW. Trade T-Mac, and any of the surplus players we have. Get Kobe. We'd lose T-Mac's weak heart, and inability to get past the first round. We'd team Yao Ming with Kobe, who's better than T-Mac, and is clutch. Do this NOW.
I would do it, yeah for T-Mac it'd be a bad way to treat him(which is one reason to not do the trade if you were the owner) but if you are looking at it from strictly a winning standpoint it's a no brainer
First, Kobe is the best player in the world. Second, he's cacapable of winning any games by himself. Third, with the roster we have, our chance of getting a championship will be improve from 20% to 90%. Fourth, some Rox fans will say no. Fifth, Kobe would not want to play here in the first place.
TMac has always been one of my favorite players in the league before he came to the Rockets, I was hysterical when we made the trade. Tmac has lost alot of his explosion, and his back and knees are a issue. Personality wise I hate Kobe Bryant I think he is the biggest creep in the league, mainly because he grew up with alot of money and success before college, and I would say 75 percent of the NBA players grew up tough. He grew up with a NBA dad and overseas. That being said he is such a talent I would have to think long and hard about it.
