Since I can't post new threads, I will place this here. It's from the Chronicle.

    http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2007/10/mcgrady_out_who_is_the_jinx_me.html

McGrady out? Who is the jinx? Me? Him? Billy?

You might recall all that stuff in today's paper on online last night about how great Tracy McGrady feels. Well, today - not so much.

It's nothing too serious, just a bruised thigh. He still might go tonight, but he skipped this morning's shootaround and said it will be a game-time decision.

"I don't know if it was in the game or yesterday, but my IT (iliotibial) band is sore," McGrady said. "I got some treatment and just decided to sit out today in practice and see how I feel this evening and decide if I want to play. It's nothing real serious. We'll see how it feels when I come back (to the arena.)"

McGrady said he could not guess if it happened with a hard fall against the Hornets on Tuesday and at first, did not remember the fall.

Asked if he considered it a serious concern, he said, "No, no, no."

Less clear was whether this was his fault or mine. I built my lede in the story around McGrady saying how good he feels, but he was the one who said it.

If he was jinxed, it would seem more his fault than mine, but he went with 60/40 split with me being 60 percent to blame.

The Rockets had their annual meeting with the officials this morning to go over any new rules or points of emphasis. Because of the meeting, Rick Adelman was not available so I could not offer any decisions about who will play tonight.

I would imagine that most if not all of the players that did not play - Aaron Brooks, Jackie Butler, Carl Landry and Dikembe Mutombo - will go tonight. Whether he changes up the starters is less certain, particularly with the starters looking so good in the first quarter on Tuesday.

It is also unclear how McGrady possibly being out will impact those decisions, but that only seems fair.

Panathinaikos will be without Vassilis Spanoulis, 'the Tracy McGrady of Greece.' The Rockets might need to hold out McGrady, 'the Vassilis Spanoulis of America."

I hope it is nothing serious.

If he plays or does not play, I think this will let Adelman see the other guys. I guess both VMAC and TMAC should sit this game. ;) It just wouldn't be fair.

not too big of a deal no point of not resting a minor minor bruise at this point...would like to see him play so can get into the flow of the offense better but at least when tracy was in the last game the team was doing extremely well.

well hopefully get to see more of SF3.

He should just as well sit out. He doesn't need to risk further hurting himself. Besides, there should be a fair number of games this season where TMac will be missing from the lineup. Might as well see how the team does without him.

Since this will be the first game on the Rockets' newly redesigned court, I doubt they'll be futzing around with the three-point line and the key area...

So my guess is no trapezoid, no FIBA rules.

It's not a big enough of a deal to start a new thread for, but please can somebody answer my question of why ticket prices have to be the same for a preseason game as they do reg season? Am I wrong and if so please tell me so to my delight? Because so long as "best available seating" in the preseason means $200 bucks per person still, there remains no chance that I will ever see a preseason game in person, since even 10 bucks for a nosebleed seat is a horrible deal for a meaningless game.

I hear the same thing happens in football, but that's understandable with only eight home games per year. That's few enough times that I even have to spell the number out. But the Rockets have 41!!! Why cannot we settle our differences with Les Alexander and Toyota Center management like gentlemen and make preseason games like 25 bucks lower deck 5 bucks upper deck first come first serve seating? Is it because, *gasp*, we might actually pack the stadium with real fans to cheer our team rather than starched up suits that can cap that profit margin nicely but wouldn't even get up out of their seats to save their Bentleys from being towed? It's just nonsensical to me, basically forcing preseason games to have attendances ~5,000 when they could make just as much money drawing 20,000.
