...in the 1989 NCAA Finals on ESPN Classic, Thursday @ 8PM. Glen was dominant, scoring 31 points, and Rumeal Robinson hit two free throws for the win in overtime. I believe that Sean Higgins, Loy Vaught and Terry Mills all played for Michigan as well, while future NBA'ers Andrew Gaze, the tragic Ramon Ramos, and Anthony Avent played for Seton Hall with PJ Carlisimo as coach. The real reason to watch, however, is to see just how far away Glen Rice is from being the stud he once was.
Glen Rice is the single best shooter I have ever seen in the NCAA tournament. That National Championship year he was automatic on EVERYTHING. An unbelievable performance thoughout the whole tournament. How far he has fallen...
On other Andrew Gaze news, he's playing his 500th NBL game tonight. I doubt many of you care, though. But congrats, Drewey!
Did he look a lot thinner back then? also...did you notice if his jumpshots were quicker back then or not? thanks, I would like to know.
ROXRAN, Rice looked thinner even last year. He is way out of shape this season. And yes, his release was a lot quicker then but I don't see any difference in the form of his shooting. So I believe he can pick it up later, better sooner though.
Thinner! Rice looked like a crack baby back then compared to now! where did he gain all this weight from? They said he was swimming all summer, but thats BS. If he swam he would be a hell of a lot thinner than he is now. Maybe he just hung out in the baby pool!
You can look at any player from the NCAA days and see that they're not what they used to be. Rice, Larry Johnson, Laettner, Hill, Hakeem, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, Cato, anybody. That's because the players are younger, more energetic, and hungrier to prove themselves to the world.
