i'm not attack clyde, that's just the way he is. if you think clyde is a better analyst than kenny then you must think white castle tastes better than Prime Rib.

i met clyde, i have this 'Believe it again' book, and all clyde tells me is " OH , Believe it again, I love it!"

when I met Dominique Wilkins he tells me his OPINION and says stuff like the dunk contests sucks and he was better than all these fools.

see the difference? clyde the player, great. clyde the public person, boring.
nothing as entertaining as Kenny Smith.

Why does it matter what Kenny Smith ranks the Rockets in preseason? And why do the Rockets deserve to be ranked ahead of Utah after having played no games and having lost to them last year?

I don't see the Jazz being good this year. They came in playing a new style last year, getting more looks for Boozer and going away from AK47, and even though Deron is a great pg, teams already have a year's worth of good film on the Jazz's style of play. They also lost D. Fisher who was a decent loss to that team as far as mental preparation goes.

the b****es are the ones complaining about preseason rankings from a former player who's probably in over his head as an analyst anyway

Nope. If you are willing to criticize Drexler then you should be willing to criticize other former players with obvious flaws...

You selectively glorify some Houston Rockets and other Houston "heroes" while not showing enough respect for those that mattered the most. You like Olajuwon and Drexler less than dime-a-dozen players that got lucky to play with them. If it wasn't for Olajuwon there would be no Kenny "I'm too cool to wear socks" Smith. He would be trying to keep afloat some failed business venture involving tacky three piece suits. If Olajuwon and Drexler were not playing in Houston, Charles Barkley would never have asked to come here. Do you get it now?

Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith are sort of entertaining (in the "laughing at you" sense), but neither means as much to Clutch City as Clyde Drexler. So, to use your words..."...you obviously don't care about the championships and the meaning of Clutch City if you hate" on Drexler and refuse to give him a chance to grow as a basketball analyst.

Don't forget...Clyde Drexler still supports the Rockets. Smith and Barkley have turned their backs on them...and it goes way past "objectivity."

Like so many you miss the point of predictions and rankings. If the point were to restate the obvious (i.e. the order of finish last year), then it wouldn't be very interesting. I don't need Kenny Smith or anyone else to do that for me. In fact, if you are going to use that logic then Utah should be ranked 2nd, since they were playing in the WCF while the Mavs and Suns watched from home. Also, you would have to rank G.S. much higher.

You are supposed to take into account off-season acquisitions and rank accordingly. Do you see anyone ranking Boston at the bottom of the East? Of course, not. As to why does it matter...well, because we enjoy it or enjoy hating it, whatever the case, if it doesn't matter to you, then don't post about it! ;)

A SPORTS EMMY for Daily/Weekly shows!!! Yay!!!! Terry Bradshaw has one too, by himself as an analyst!

    Cris Collinsworth has seven!!!

But that is besides the point (point?)...

Try not to mention the Rockets' championships when you are defending Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley (who had nothing to do with either championship, besides becoming a victim along the way).

    Respect

    ^_^

"Can Tracy and Yao coexist?" Huh?

Kenny should leave the rankings to Kerr. As much as we hate Kerr for his Spur jockriding and passive-aggressiveness towards the Rockets, he at least has some idea of the current inner workings within each team. Sure he's biased and a douche, but at least he's somewhat knowledgeable.

Well, on every fan board, there are so many [fill in blank] doesn't respect us threads, it gets ridiculous. Athletes do that, too--they somehow delude themselves into thinking that no one respects them to fire themselves up.

I get ticked when the Rockets' championship teams get over-looked, but that is because they accomplished something. There are a lot of good teams in the West, and this year, the Rockets have made exciting changes but still have a lot to prove. The two best players have never won a playoff series, a new coach is coming in with a different system, and it is not clear how Steve Francis-Bonzi Wells-Mike James will fit into their roles.

Meanwhile, Utah's two best players are back, won a couple playoff series, and have a coach who has been there since the McKinley administration running the same successful system. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we ended up with the fifth seed this year. Kenny Smith might be an idiot, but the only thing that really matters is playoff wins--this isn't college football.

Chuck played his heart out for the Rockets. he took the MINIMUM SALARY just so we can sign other players.

I'm back 100% from overseas, so I will not let you diss Kenny and Charles, not in a billion years!

Kenny Smith is in his eighth full season as a studio analyst for the Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA on TNT. He joined the Turner Sports team near the end of the 1997-98 season, quickly transitioning from stellar NBA player to in-studio television analyst. In addition to his Inside duties, Smith served as a basketball analyst for the 2001 Goodwill Games and teamed with co-hosts Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley for TNT's weekly Listen Up! during the 2002-03 NBA season.

He was known for his exceptional quickness, blazing speed and dead-eye pull up jumpers, was named the Basketball Times' National NCAA Player of the Year in 1987. That same year, Smith was a consensus All-American and first-team All-ACC choice, leading the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in scoring with 16.9 points per game as well as in assists with 209. He was named second-Team All-ACC as a sophomore and a junior. One of only 10 freshmen under coach Dean Smith to start the first game of his career, Kenny had 86 assists in NCAA tournament play, which at the time was the most in that event's history. In 127 games as a collegian, he averaged 12.9 points per game and 6.0 assists per contest while running Carolina's offense to masterful perfection from his point guard spot. Smith led UNC to undefeated ACC marks in both 1984 and 1987, and he poured in a career-high 41 points during the 1987 season in a 108-99 comeback win at Clemson. Smith finished his career as Carolina's all time assist leader with 768, breaking the record of Tar Heel legend Phil Ford. Smith's total of 195 steals was a Carolina record at the end of his college career and is still good enough to rank fourth. His game-high 23 points against the Soviet Union in the championship game of the FIBA World Championships propelled the U.S. team to a medal-clinching victory in 1986. Smith won the Patterson Medal, the highest athletic award at Carolina, as the top senior athlete in 1987. After playing his first three years with the Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks, Smith played five seasons with the Houston Rockets and was the starting point guard for the 1994 and 1995 World Championship teams.

why is he a bad analyst? cause he doesn't predict the Rockets to win a championship every year like you?

A good Analyst is a person who correctly analyzes situations. Good Work Kenny, that's why you are super popular now and successful, and with success comes the haters. but you've had to deal with it all your life, the haters.

we know true Rocket fans have you in their hearts til they die.
