I say we send Novak down to NBDL this year. He should really have been there last year. It will be very difficult for him to crack the rotation and you can not get better by sitting on the bench.
If SF can't learn to be a role player in a system that favors passing to creating off the dribble, I'm not so sure of that.
gotta agree here. snyder has showed nothing and harris has showed something. people say snyder is a great defender but he fouls too much. add that to the zero offensive game he has other than highlight dunks and "athleticism" then you end up with someone who shouldn't be on the team over harris.
Agree. Presonally I like Novak but he cannot offer to much for Houston. He can only shot a 3, that's all.
My apologies, but Novak is strictly 1 dimensional. If he isn't hitting the 3, he gives you nothing. No handle, D, rebounding (6"10"), not tough, so that's where the hate comes from
We need but that's not about that. He's just too weak. He cannot defend. He cannot post up or somethin like that. I don't think he would have a lot of open 3s.
My first post! Anyway, I am really amazed how Steve Novak can shoot up that 3 point shot, but overall his skills are not developed, and unfortunately we don't have room to let him grow right now. Sure I would have loved to see Van Gundy throw him in last year when we couldn't buy a bucket, I mean you have Tmac and Yao who command double teams, surely they would have let Novak open, and he would have been $$$. I hope Novak finds a spot somewhere if its not with the Rockets. The guy has an amazing shot but needs developing time.
END OF GAME NEED A 3 LINEUP: TMAC YAO NOVAK JAMES BROOKS Unfortunately, this is the only game situation and lineup that makes sense for Novak. I like the guy, but I agree, he's got to shoot over 60% from 3 to be beneficial to us because he is so bad in every other area of the game.
Rebounding can be taught and learned. Shooting is a diffrent thing. So it's just a matter of developing him into a better player.
Yes it can, but Novak's been in the league already for a year, seen what he needs to improve upon and that he needed to gain weight, and comes back with what? For a team built to win now, there's no point keeping a young guy around to train him to become a Matt Bullard. Why not just go out and get Piatkowski or Casey Jacobsen if a shooter's what you're looking for?
He should be eating a lot of Mcdonald's food to gain weight. Really, why not hire me, I can shoot too.
I also don't think there's Novak hate, just a general increase in the amount of the fanbase that recognizes his game might be too limited for the league. He's a greater shooter from the arc, possibly the best on the team. But you need well-rounded players out there, and in numerous categories he's the weakest on the roster. He's got a good attitude and plays smart, but he will be outclassed physically in virtually every match up for 82 games. He absolutely can not handle the ball, pass, or otherwise make a move on offense. His screens are okay at best. He hasn't shown if he can make a dive to the basket for easy twos like Hayes. Defensively, he makes you wish for Pete Chilcutt. No lateral quickness at all and the best he can do is stand straight up and raise his arms. Too slow in his rotations to be of help. I don't hate him at all, but I can't pretend that he's a competent rotation player in the NBA. Evan
